Love is not a Noun
You smile and say I love you when there is something to be gained.
You snuggle up beside me and begin to whisper my name.
I'm yours to have and to hold, until death do us part.
Love is not a noun it must find a home in your heart.
You remember to say it every Mother's Day, after that day has love gone away?
On Father's Day you buy me a tie and call me "Dad".
When I don't hear from you the rest of the year it makes my heart sad.
On Valentine's Day you stand in line to buy a card, "will you be mine?"
On Christmas you say it with box after box of gifts, if only you knew the best gift is a kiss from your lips.
Love knows no holiday, no season, no special day,
Love is just what it is and should always be given away.
If only you would stay beside me during the night when I get sick, tossing and turning unable to rest.
You could come and lay beside me, let me lay my head on your chest.
Love is not at noun, this way of love is the best.
I've had a hard day at work and the children misbehave, just to be held in your arms would make the world around us fade away.
L-O-V-E is not a noun, you must express it in deeds for words are soon forgotten, the cards thrown away, the letters lost in the file cabinet.
Love is not a weapon, yet you hold it back to punish me, to make me submit to your will.
Please take heed to the words I say, never ever, use love that way.
Love is not a noun, it is a precious gift from God each and every day.
