I look for notes
To come together
The way a congregation
Comes together to pray;
One chord after another
Rising to the heart of God –
An offering of song
Carrying my desire to exalt Him
Who frees me from
The tangles of sin.
Yes, I’m looking for melodies
To move me from my human hell
To the throne room
Where God reveals Himself to me.
I’m looking for songs
That place the mind of Christ in me
And let my human mind crumble
Never to inhabit me again.
I’m looking for music to carry me
Through fires and floods;
To lift me from pits and place me
At the pinnacle of God’s will.
So… choir sing!
Sing me to heaven!
