Transformed, Our Face Like the Sun, Our Clothes Whiter than White

I was writing a Bible study on sanctification which is already completed when we place our faith in Jesus. Transformation is accomplished by the renewal of our minds to believe what God says about who we are in Christ.  It cannot be fully completed until our flesh dies and we get a new glorified body. The mortal must die to put on the immortal. As I was reading it really hit me that we will be transformed like Jesus was before the Apostles. Our faces will be like the sun and our clothes will be whiter than any white we have ever seen. Meditate on that for a while.

Jesus Transformed

As the men watched, Jesus' appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. Matt 17:2 NLT

Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white, far whiter than any earthly bleach could ever make them. Mark 9:2-3 NLT

When Jesus was transfigured/transformed before Peter, James and John, His face shone like the sun and His clothes were dazzling white. The Greek word “metamorphoó” is used only four times in the New Testament. The two verses immediately above and below this definition. It is defined under Strong’s 3330: to transform - Short Definition: I change the form, transform transfigure.

We Are Being Transformed into the Same Image

This is the same word in these two verses about the transformation of believers into the same image.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Rom 12:2 ESV

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Cor 3:18 ESV

Our Full Transformation Cannot be Completed Until We Die

There are other words that mean transform or change that are used in the following verses.

But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!  It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:51-57 NLT

Whiter than you have ever seen.

The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses. Rev 19:14 NLT

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Rev 19:8 KJV

Eternally victorious by the blood of Jesus and our testimony.

And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. Rev 12:11 NLT

All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine. Rev 3:5 NLT

How does that make you feel Christian?
