The question is often asked can I live like the Devil and by this it is presumably meant can I live in sin or known sin and still have the assurance that I am saved and going to heaven?
David committed adultery and murder and had great doubts about his standing or relation with the LORD.
Hear his words in Psalm 51:10-11
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me."
Obviously David sensed that his spirit was not right with God and was in fear of being forsaken by the LORD and so he cries to God "take not thy Holy Spirit from me."
That sounds like a man who feared the LORD and wanted to be in a right relationship despite his known sin and rebellion.
Did David live like the Devil? The Bible doesn't use that kind of language but if you want to say that his sin was like the Devil who rebels and rebelled against the LORD then you might say for a limited amount of time David did live like the Devil but when Nathan the prophet came to him and said: "Thou art the man" after perhaps about a year of no repentance David came to see himself as an unworthy man and in danger of losing favor with God.
Today many YouTube videos and false teachers take great pride in teaching you can be saved and still love this evil world and all of its lust and greed etc and you can live like the Devil in rebellion against God's commandments and still make it to heaven.
WARNING: Not every who thinks they are saved is saved and if they believe they are saved and can live like the Devil with no change in their sinful lifestyle then they haven't learned what God truly thinks of sin and the purpose for which Jesus died. They don't understand the nature of saving faith and Biblical salvation.
Look at this scriptureGalatians 1:4 "Who gave himself for our sins, that he (Jesus) might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father."
False professors believe they can be saved and still love the world but scripture says Jesus came to DELIVER US from this evil world. To be delivered from this evil world means we are delivered from the love and power of the world, flesh and the Devil as well as ALL that is in the world, namely, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Now if a professing believer doesn't wish to be delivered from this evil world that must mean he/she is evil and not a true believer or he/she would be in agreement with the purpose for which Jesus came.
Many scriptures teach this same idea. For example we find in Romans 6:14-19 14. "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness."
NOTE: Romans 6:14-19 clearly teaches that there is a drastic difference between how a person once lived before their conversion, that is, when they were under the law (married to the law) and when they came under grace or were effectually called and regenerated. If we follow sin then it will lead to eternal damnation for the wages of SIN is DEATH (Romans 6:23) but if we obey the Lord as faithful servants then we show ourselves to be free from the penalty of sin. This doesn't mean a true believer is sinless in this world but they are ever striving to be obedient to their Lord by avoiding even the appearance of evil.
