Remember how a rainbow
Used to reach from...hill to hill...
And how the morning dew would drip
Beneath the window sill?
Back THEN...the robin red-breast
Was the harbinger of spring,
And just behind him....jonquils!
That the warming sun would bring.
So many things get altered
As the years go racing by.
(Your eyes and arms conspire...and you
Can't even swat a fly!)
There's still....rainbows, dew and....robins
And jonquils....for us all,
(Take your walk around the neighborhood....
And NOT down at the Mall!)
