Is This Way To Straight For You
Are You Straight Enough For God To Dwell

Looking at II Kings 6:1-7 we ask you to look into your own lives and ask yourself, is this way to straight for you and are you straight enough for God to dwell.

We want to cover three points:

1. Everybody wants to go their way and they are not concerned if it is Godís way
2. Some people wants to buy their way into heaven
3. There is a penalty for punishment for following after the wrong things

We know that there is a way that we should take, walk, and live. We also know there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the way thereof are the ways of death. Isaiah 35:8 say a highway is there and a way and it shall be called the way of holiness and the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those, the wayfaring men, (those traveling, especially on foot a course from one place to another, from earth to heaven, making progress, going in a specific direction) though fools shall not err therein. A fool is described as one who shows himself by word or action to be deficient, lacking and essential quality or element, incomplete, defective, inadequate in amount or degree, insufficient in judgment, sense or understanding, a stupid or thoughtless person.

Only a fool would think that the way of holiness is too hard for them to walk. They think that way because they donít understand this way. It was fools that put Jesus on the cross, for if they had understood prophecy and just what they were doing and whom it was that they were doing it to they would not have done it. The things people do bring either a blessing or a curse; that is they can be blessed or cursed.

The sons of the prophets, the hundred prophets that Obadiah took and hid by fifty in a cave and fed them, was kept alive and well from Jezebel, for she cut off the prophets of the Lord in that day and sponsored her own prophets of the groves. They were called the Priest of Asherah who had cult worship in Jezreel. We know that Jezebel was the wife of King Ahab, a woman that respected no one, not even her husband and she went against Elijah only to lose her own life. When the Devil comes against a real man or woman of God anything might happen to them. The sons of the prophets, was spared her destruction. Elijah was a mighty prophet of God who emphasized the unconditional loyalty to God required by Godís people. Elisha became Elijahís servant and we know the story how Elisha received Elijahís anointing by being there when Elijah was caught up to God. He received a double portion of Elijahís spirit and did twice a many miracles. Elisha carried on the ministry and demonstrated well the spiritual principles that Gods ministers ought not to make merchandize of the ministry.

He presented the word of God through prophecy, advised and anointed kings, helped the needy and performed various miracles.

Some of his works included but was not limited to:

1. He purified a spring
2. Raised the Shunamiteís only son
3. Provided an antidote for poisonous stew
4. He healed Naamanís leprosy
5. And now here we are, he recovered a lost axe head

This manís anointing was so strong even his bones had miracle power. Elijah taught the sons of the prophets and they said unto him the place where we dwell is to straight for us. The place where they had followed him to, as some people follow others and donít know or understand where they are going or who they are following was to straight for them. Some ways we follow are not straight and lined up with God but the people donít care. Notice the words they speak out of their mouths, the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart. Notice their lifestyles and the fruit of their spirit. The way they go is the way their flesh will be able to continue its mess. Some people is content to be on their way to Hell and you better not tell them anything about their mess. God do not go against our will, he lets you go on your way. The problem is that they always want to take someone else with them when they want to go their way; they act like their daddy, Satan. Isnít this the way he did things? He couldnít just get himself kicked out of Heaven, but he took 2/3 of the Angels with him, he never wants to go alone.

The Devil doesnít care if we follow his path or even about you. You will only be tossed in the lake, he only wants to use you and destroy you. And except Godís grace saves you and he has a divine purpose for your life, Satan succeeds. Some people will sell you out and think nothing of it, not only that some of us go and donít know whom we are following. Righteousness follows after righteousness. Unrighteousness follows after unrighteousness. In other words if their walk is alike and their ways most people donít care, they go the way of the flesh and they will be able to continue in their mess.

Is this way to straight for you? God wants to dwell in you today!

He donít want us to be as the people that shall be as the burnings of lime; as thorns cut up shall they be burned in fire. The sinners in Zion are afraid. In Christ we should fear, but fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites.

Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire with everlasting burnings?

If you think this way is to straight, think about the consuming fire that shall consume you, for our God is a consuming fire according to Hebrews 12:29. The wrath of God comes to the children of unrighteousness and to all those who want accept truth and would rather live fictitiously in the world. It comes because God has to express his nature, holiness and truth. God must punish sin because sin personally offends God, and you should not be surprised that sin makes God angry. To deny his anger is to reject the necessity of Christís reconciling work on the cross.

The rage that today is vented against sin will someday be completely unleashed in hell against those who refuse to accept the satisfaction or propitiation that Christ made on the cross for sin. Since the propitiation by Christ suffices for the whole world; there is no reason anyone should spend eternity in Hell, unless he rejects Godís truth. What do you perceive this as, truth or fiction?

Romans 2 tell us, because of what Christ has done, we are inexcusable and you shall not escape Godís judgment. The fundamental principle of divine judgment is that god will judge according to truth, deed, light and the gospel, which reveals human thoughts and motives. Christians should live their lives accountable to God for their attitudes and actions. He that walks righteously and speaks uprightly; he that despise the gain of oppression, that shake his hands from holding of bribes, that stop his ears from hearing of blood and shut his eyes from seeing evil, he shall dwell on high. He promised us in John 6:56 that if we eat his flesh and drink his blood, he will dwell in us and we in him. Not only that if we stay in the straight way the father will dwell in us, in our hearts, fully with the word with him but of course will have to be in the light, dwell in righteousness.

According to James 4:5, do you think that the scriptures say in vain, the spirit that dwell in us lust to envy. But he gives more grace, he resist the proud but give grace to the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the Devil and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners and purify your hearts you double minded, be afflicted and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned to mourning and you joy to heaviness. Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and he shall lift you up. Is this way to straight for you? Are you willing to give up everything to follow Christ?

Itís a straight and narrow way and only the righteous dwell on that road. Get your lives lined up today for tomorrow is not promised. We must have a passion to walk in that straight and narrow way, a passion for holiness. We need to initiate an action toward our passion, make a move toward God and then your action will be reciprocated. You must persevere, persist in your move toward God, maintain and stay focused in whatever situation that arise, stand steadfast. Persisting is continuing steadfastly and firmly in some state, purpose, and course of action in spite of circumstances and opposition.

If you want to walk in this way, your routine must be coupled with a passion for this way. For where your treasure is there will your heart be also. Keep your passion, the highway to heaven or the down roads to Hell.
