ONCE I WAS BLIND
As Jesus went along, He saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind”. “Neither sinned” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him”.
John 9:1-3 NASB
Most of us were born with the gift of sight. It is something we take for granted, that is, until Age Related Macular Degeneration slowly takes over. It is then when we give up driving. It is then when we become aware of the gift of our peripheral vision. The problem has nothing to do with what our parents have done or failed to do. It has to do with getting older.
Many of us, though sighted, are blind to the blessings we have received from the Lord. We take for granted that we have the necessities of life: food, clothing, shelter, etc. We sometimes say that “we worked hard for what we have and that it was no gift from God”. We seem to forget that it was really the Lord who gave us the ability to work and earn a living.
We should, every day of our lives, get down on our knees in thanksgiving for all of our blessings. We should give credit where credit is due: thanking God for all of His blessings.
Thank you Father for all you have done for me. Amen
