Got Gas?

A few weeks ago I was driving around town. I really had no mission for the moment, all of a sudden I saw the little yellow light on the dash board blinking at me! It was telling me, my van was empty...how else could I possibly know in this day and age, right! So I stopped for some gas as I have done weekly for the last 16 or so years.Well, this time as I looked up to see how much unleaded was, I was shocked! $1.78 a gallon! When and How in the world did this ever happen! I was beside myself. So I "not so eagerly" filled my tank up, paid and went on my way!
Well, time tells the story. A week had passed and the yellow light beckons my attention once more! Let me guess - Empty? So I find the nearest gas station and turn in. I get out to check the price - $1.66; WOW! remembering what I paid a week ago this looked pretty good! So I eagerly fill up the tank and happily pay!
My night goes a little better than a week before, just because of my mood. I get home, I brag about the price I paid and continue with the evening.
Suddenly, around 11:00 pm, I get a pounding insight! Good! When did $1.66 become good? What could I have been thinking? What is so good about $1.66. Sure it was better than $1.78, but good????? How crazy that must sound, from just a few years ago .98 to $1.12 was the norm?
That is when it hit me...my measure of good had just turned worldly! What was once unheard of, and would have been considered bad, had now become good! What was once good, and considered norm, had now become...once was! And as I thought about it...What is now unheard of, will one day become the norm! The world's bad becomes good which in turns becomes the norm! How Awful a feeling that gave me! I could not believe how my measurement of good had succumbed to the worlds scale!
I treasured the Bible at that moment and reflected on what truly never changes! The Bible is truly our measurement of all standards: It is steadfast....and never yielding! I thanked God for His never changing Word, his never changing character and His never changing Love. Because with God I know He created everything and it was good! And with God that's how it shall remain!
When bad starts to become good, and when what once was unheard of becomes norm go to the scriptures and find out what really IS!!!!!!!!!!

Julie, Loved the line, "Good! When did $1.66 become good?" Also loved the message to search the scripture. Blessings, Rita
