I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am, there you may be also. [John 14:1 ]
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, as is Christmas. The most pleasant times of the year for many of us are also the most lonely times of the year for many.
Jesus gathers, invites, wants to live with us. His presence draws, includes, and embraces.
Our enemy scatters, excludes, and rejects. There's no room or place for us in the grand sphere of love; therefore, there is no place for others to be loved. Alone and lonely marks the world, marks us, and guides the way we live and treat others.
Christ doesn't just say He will come and live with us [though He did that, too]; He says He is going to prepare a place so we can live with Him. He wants us, friends. Most people don't want to live with those outside their own flesh and blood---- get this, God wants to live with us.
Who do we invite, include, and cover with warmth and belonging? Or are we too alone in our own selves to be able to invite others to belonging as well? Have we kept our hearts closed tightly to love and belonging out of fear or thoughts of unworthiness, or have we opened our hearts wide to the belonging Christ offers us?
We can't give belonging unless we first belong. Can't possibly invite others to live with us unless our hearts are opened by a large, magnificent love that can't be contained, can't be small, can't be shriveled up and boxed in?
When we know largeness, we find capacity to love large. Large includes your neighbor, your friend, the world, those who are in bonds, and the government. Loving large means you approach others with love first and foremost. Your world becomes greater than yourself because God is greater than yourself and His story has you a part of the whole.
Breathe deeply. Love large. Include all. Invite others.

Really enjoyed this article. John 14 is my most favorite chapter in the Bible. Within this one chapter Jesus makes many promises to us. This was the focus of my first three articles here at FaithWriters.
