Why do we need Divine Revelation?
To intellectual Theologians who are not Born-again spiritually this term ‘Divine Revelation,’ may not sit well with their Theological training. To an average religious person this term ‘Divine Revelation,’ are for leaders and Church officials to be concern with. However, why must we all be concern and intrigue by the term ‘Divine Revelation’? What is Divine Revelation? Why do we need Divine Revelation? How can we experience Divine Revelation?
Hi Faith-writers, I thank God the Father once again for allowing me another opportunity to teach HIS Word to HIS people. Several months ago the Lord had placed it in my heart to go deeper into the topic of Divine Revelation. This year has been a challenging one for me and very time consuming that I did not have the time to teach it. But I’m sharing it now and I ask that all of you reading this article will pray for me so I may be able to write more frequently. Thank you.
The meaning of Divine Revelation
Divine--means Supernaturally, or Heavenly given, or God given insight or Revelation about HIS purposes. Matthew wrote about the story of the Wise men who saw the Star that appeared signaling Jesus’ birth. They came to Jerusalem to ask Herod about the location of the birth of Jesus. Herod assembled the chief priest and Scribes and they found out that Jesus will be born in Bethlehem. Herod then told the Wise men that when they have found Jesus. To report it to him so he may go and worship the child (Matthew 2:1-8 NKJV)
After leaving Herod the Wise men were led by the Star to the exact location where Jesus was. After finding HIM and worshipping HIM they left their gifts. The Wise men went to sleep and had purposed to go back to Herod, to tell him where Jesus was—not knowing Herod’s evil intention to kill Jesus (Matthew 2:9-11 NKJV)
Matthew wrote, Then, being DIVINELY WARNED IN A DREAM that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way. (Matthew 2:12 NKJV)
Therefore, the term ‘Divine,’ according to Scripture, means Heavenly, Supernatural, and or Spiritually given insight about the purposes of God. It was God’s Purpose to keep Jesus alive and protected. So, God granted a Divine Dream to reveal to the Wise men not to go back to Herod the King.
God uses a number of ways to grant us Divine Revelation. A Dream is only one avenue of communication God has with mankind. I will go deeper about these other areas of communication in future articles it will show how we can experience Divine Revelation.
Revelation—(Grk. Apokalupsis)- is an uncovering, unveiling of the things of God. Placing both words together, ‘Divine Revelation,’ means Heavenly Insight about the purposes of God for mankind.
Why do we need Divine Revelation?
Using this story of the Wise men, Divine Revelation kept the Wise men from being totally deceived by King Herod. And it kept Jesus alive and safe from King Herod. God’s purpose is always design to give us hope and a good future. The devil is always out to steal, kill, and destroy our lives. (John 10:10 NKJV) And the devil will use anybody to accomplish his evil desire. On the other hand, Jesus is out to give us life and life more abundantly. By experiencing Divine Revelation consistently in our walk of faith, it will allow us to experience the abundant life Jesus had come and claimed to give us.
How can we experience Divine Revelation?
Again, using the story of the Wise men, they experienced Divine Revelation by a Dream. We can also experience Divine Revelation by a Dream, Vision, Audible Voice of the Holy Spirit, an Angelic Visitation, by reading the Word of God the Holy Bible, by Jesus appearing to us personally, by the still small Voice of God, by our Conscience, and more…
In my next article, we will explore the Dimensions of Divine Revelation. There are many Divine Manifestations to experience and we will look at what Scripture teaches and I will share a lot of testimony along with these Dimensions. May God Bless you with Divine inspiration to desire Divine Revelation in Jesus’ name, Amen.
