Greetings in the Glorious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Do you have a veil in the house. A veil is nothing but a thin piece of fabric which does not enable the observer on one side to clearly see through it. One could say that someone is standing on the other side but not the identity of that person. As a matter of fact, we also have a veil hanging down in front of our eyes. This is a spiritual veil that separates us from seeing the works of God in our life.
What is that veil?
Well, as you all know, the veil is sin. Sin separates us from God. "For the wages of sin is death;". So the penalty of sin is death. But we all have sinned, and this is where the later part of the above verse gains significance: "But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23. Which states that it is a gift (and not an earned gift) from God and this means that only God Himself has torn the veil.
History of the veil:
It all began with a single sin which we all know very well. It is written in the Book of Genesis that Adam and Eve spoke openly to God and this was before they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. After their disobedience, they were driven forth out of the garden of Eden. This was the veil that is being passed on from generation to generation. For even a new born child carries the veil. But once the person accepts Christ into their life the veil is rent. In the Old Testament Bible, it is mentioned about building a Tabernacle of God (See the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Deutronomy). Here Moses describes of the structure of the Tabernacle of God revealed to Him in the Mount. One of the features of the Tabernacle was a Veil which separated the Holy of Holies from the camp. No ordinary person was allowed to go within the veil. Moses and Aaron only had access inside it. The Temple of God built by King Solomon also consisted of the veil. This veil is a continuing sign of obstacle between God and man. But our God made an end to the Veil through his one and only Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
The day when the veil was torn into two:
'And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus's resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"' Matthew 27:50-54
When Jesus Christ died there on the cross for our sins, he tore the veil that separated us from God. The tearing of the veil of the temple signifies that God has removed the barrier that has for a long time separated the people from His Holiness. And by His Resurrection we can be sure that He is the God and He is coming to bring us to our Home which is the Kingdom of God. He did what you and I could not do. So now the veil is torn and we can have our talk with God if we throw away our guilt and accept the Lord into us.
Prayer: Lord, The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we praise and thank you for Jesus Christ who tore down the veil that had existed for centuries. Lord, we make prayer that you may fill us with your Holy Spirit from the tip of our hairs to the sole of our foot. May the blood of your Son cleanse us. Jesus Christ, please Lord, remember me when you come for the Kingdom, Lord. In the Strong name of Jesus Christ, I make this prayer Amen.
