Marriage
I remember back in my ice skating days, when I was ready to compete in ice dancing...and the experience reminded me of our love.
I had practiced for months, I had all the steps down.... in those days there was nothing 'free' about each dance. The steps were set down, the music was pre-selected, and the standard was how well you expressed the dance while adhering to the rules. I remember so well, the agonies I went through, as an awkward overweight child, to gather up the nerve to ask one of the 'older' (to me) guys to act as my partner...for dance was only done in twos.
It took me weeks of hand wringing, holding back, and false starts before I could actually go - and the funny thing was, once I'd got past the fear, the guy I asked agreed without a second thought.
That was so like I felt in the time before we met...again I was that awkward, unbecoming self...I didn't fit in, everything I tried seemed wrong, so I held back, not daring to try. When at last I turned to Jesus, and cried to Him for help...feeling Him gently say 'why did you wait so long?' I at last gave it up, quit trying to 'make' things work, and asked Him to take over my life. And oh, when He did, what wonders He wrought! He found me a partner for the dance...the perfect one, strong and sure, the fulfillment of a dream.... the one I'd looked for and could not find...and He brought us together, and music filled the air.
At that long ago competition, I floated onto that ice, with my partner by my side - and for those few minutes, skating that dance, I was transformed into beauty, elegance and grace! We glided across the ice, each step sure and true, the music in time with our feet...and before I knew it we had gone round the rink, and the months of preparation were through.... I had made it! I had finished, I had completed the dance, the competition was over so soon.
And each day now with you I feel that elegance and grace.... you standing sure at my side, and together we dance to the music in the air, the steps melting us into one. Every day a new dance, some we know, some we learn.... but the joy is in the doing.... and knowing that whatever song the music plays, we'll be dancing that dance together.
The loveliest thing of all is that at the end of each dance, when the music fades out for a time...that the greatest gift of all, the one that makes my heart sing, is the gift of being with you! My days alone are all done, He has given me such joy, such happiness I can hardly contain...and my thanks fill my heart, my gratitude to Him - for loving me enough to bring me you.

Trish, Well Written! Love truly is the greatest gift of all. Blessings, Rita
Funny, Trish, but I just got done commenting on another person's article by saying "Makes me wanna dance ;-)" when I opened a link that said "Every Day A New Dance." I don't know how to explain it... I feel as though I am standing at the edge of the rink... on the edge of favor. It's not something I know... It's something I feel. But I feel it down deep and it's sure... unmistakable.
