What's New
Trusting In God's Timing

Isaiah 40:6-8 “The voice said, “Cry out!” And he said, “What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, And all its lioveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”

Just reading these few verses makes me ask, “Who am I to place anything before God?” You think you’re so good or someone else is just perfect and you fall in love with that person. First and foremost though, we must remember the Master of love, the master of everything. Who when understanding the full truth instilled in the heart, who then will not fear the God of Heaven? God is a God of reverence.

Read Isaiah 40:21-31. Verse 22-23 “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the hevens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless.”

He is the Father of all things and His word goes. He holds all things in His hands, the physical, spiritual and time itself. Who is worthy to be praised? Who is worthy to be called King of our lives?

Everytime life makes no sense, when things have just come falling down around you and confusion is all that is seen, I must have patience and wait on His timing. Verse 27-28 “Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak O Israel: ‘My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God?’ Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary, His understanding is unsearchable.”

The only way we can get through the roadblocks that keep coming our way is to understand God more and more, to search His truth out. We must come to know His perspectives and ways which means we must LEARN to have great patience in Him. His timing, His ways are not our ways most definately. We wish it were so but it isnt. Verse 31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

That’s hard to swallow sometimes. I know it for sure. Waiting on God is I think one of the hardest things in the world to do. Often times we try to make an excuse saying God forgot about us in order to take the short cut. When we do that...we mess up everything. We have Abraham and Sarah to thank for showing what happens when we don’t wait. (Genesis 16)

But we do this, we wait on God because we understand God as much as He allows us to. And what I’ve found out is His faithfulness to us is far more reaching than any man or woman. His promises are guarenteed, when we search God out, His truth is revealed and we can have a hope like none other with His promises on our lives. It’s because He is Holy, The One, The only uncondtional loving Father God.

Isaiah 30:15a “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Notice, it didn’t say in fear and trembling but in confidence in God’s promises and God’s sovernty above all. That is where we build strength: Trusting God, Believing what we know to be right as God directs and always in His timing but always as He directs us. Not our feelings or circumstances around us but God’s own still small voice in our heart.

Now for myself, I can know all this, but how do I still my heart? I mean, all this is well and good but I’m still a man who’s nature is to turn from God, to fear what He says. He says to wait! I don’t like waiting! Circumstances come into my life and all I want to do is hurry things up a bit in order to try and fix things, work things out....but that’s not God’s plan. God’s plan is He tells me WHEN to do what He says, in HIS time, not mine. So in the meantime what am I to do? Worry about everything under the sun?

Psalm 4:3-8 “But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Peace in all things comes only by first allowing ourselves to trust God through much prayer. Allow His presence to simply fall on us and bring us peace.

Lamentations 3:25 “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.” Strongs Concordance says of the word wait, “This verb is found some 50 times. Qavah is the root of the noun tiqvah, “hope” or “expectancy.” Qavah expresses the idea of “waiting hopefully.” So as we do wait, as we hope and expect what has already been placed in our heart, do we sit around for God to say go? No. When there is hope and expectancy, waiting is not refering to simply sitting still to see if God will say anything or not. We must also work at it. When we believe God has called us to do something, then we are to do it. God will not always be so vocal in what He wants us to do. We have to search Him out to find the answers. That means we are to work at what we believe is right. In hard and simple things, we must always 1) strive to work and do as we believe God has said or showed us in heart and 2) Listen to our hearts with sensitive ears, discerning truth from lies.

Psalm 40:1-2 “I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.”

Psalm 25:4-5 “Show me Your ways, O Lord; Tecah me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For you are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.” To paraphrase what one said, Truth is a constant reliable source in God. When God speaks to our hearts, we know it for the truth. All things in life are based on God’s Truth. In the Hebrew alphabet “Emet” meaning truth, is spelled with the first, middle, and last letters. The rabbis thus concluded that truth upholds the first and the last of God’s creation, and everything in between!

So when my life is suddenly twisted around and I’m asking God what in the world He is doing to me, what’s going on? I have to rely on His truth, His ultimate timing and will placed in my heart. It’s the only way we can be sure of anything in life. God’s truth is revealed in us as we continualy walk by faith, trusting and relying on God’s own timing in our life, not our own lest we should fall.

WHEN WE HAVE GOD’S PROMISE Faith Believes it: Hope anticipates it; Patience willingly waits quietly for it.
