Winds of change they beat my door.
Winds that chill me to the core.
Winds that whirl like a hurricane,
Bend and twist my weakened frame.
Winds of change don't blow on me.
Go away and let me be!
You've come to call to many days.
How I long to see the sun's bright rays.
Just blow away these clouds of gray,
Do it now and be on your way!
Winds of change never do relent,
'Til they've accomplished why they're sent.
Travailing like one giving birth,
Far and wide o'er all the earth.
Winds of change that blow so strong,
Seem to carry me along,
With gusts that drive me far from shore,
And lead me to a haven sure.
Winds of change have stayed with me,
Oh, dear Lord, how can it be?
That I have struggled long and lost,
And been made to count the cost
Of true growth and maturity,
By walking this road of accountability.
Winds of change overshadow me,
Father, help me lest I flee.
That I may walk this path of grace,
And gain strength from Your lovely face.
Winds of change will never end.
I might crack and I might bend,
But the Holy Spirit will give me power,
To help me stand in my darkest hour.
