Prayers
David Prayed Reactivate my Glory
There is so much we need to learn about the Glory of God. The Bible is clear about the many Dimensions of God’s Glory. In my previous article, “Understanding the Dimensions of God’s Glory,” we saw how Jesus Prayed for God’s Glory in (John 17:1 NKJV).
In this article we are going to take a closer look at how David Prayed for God’s Glory. David said;
* Awake my Glory!
* Awake, lute and harp!
* I will awaken the dawn. (Psalm 57:8 NKJV)
David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22 NKJV). David knew how to tap into God’s Righteousness by prayer (Psalm 5:8/ 71:2, 14-16 NKJV). David also knew how to REACTIVATE GOD’S GLORY in his life. By making this small Prayer, Awake my Glory! (Psalm 57:8 NKJV)
This small statement may not seem enough to a religious mind. A religious mind may think I need to Pray for an hour to break through the heavens and receive an answer to my Prayer. The reason why a religious mind may think this is because they need to catch a REVELATION OF THE WORD OF GOD, regarding the Biblical characters who were able to experience the power of God in their lives. Especially when they were complacent or down and out spiritually.
Understanding the “Wake Up Call!”
Awake is an old-school phrase. A more modern phrase would be REACTIVATE—which simply means flip on the switch or turn on the switch. By turning on a switch we REACTIVATE a light, lamp, motor, generator etc. So in the same sense, when we ask God to Awake my Glory! We are only requesting for God to turn us back on to HIM, HIS Will, HIS Mission, and HIS Purpose.
When we do a thorough study of Paul’s letters in the New Testament and all of David’s writings in the Psalms and 1&2 Samuel and Chronicles, we will see that the same HOLY SPIRIT granted them REVELATION of how to tap into the Power of God.
Paul on the Topic of Awake (REACTIVATE)
Paul wrote to the Christians at Rome and said, and do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to AWAKE out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. (Romans 13:11 NKJV)
There are several points to this verse that connects with David Praying for God to AWAKE his Glory.
1. We are really close to Jesus coming back again. (This is a genuine prophetic Truth.)
2. It is time to get back in fellowship with God on a deeper level.
3. It is obvious that we are going to fall asleep (spiritually speaking) which is what Paul meant in this verse. And we have an example of how to WAKE UP spiritually by using the same Prayer that David Prayed when he felt spiritually complacent, AWAKE MY GLORY!
Paul went a little further with his AWAKE Teaching. Paul mentioned other things that should be AWAKEN! Paul wrote, AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. (1 Corinthians 15:34 NKJV)
Notice how Paul explained the reason why so many Christians fail to be Powerful examples. Because they don’t have the knowledge of God! However, before Paul said that, he said, AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS. In other words, the more we AWAKE to God’s RIGHTEOUSNESS the more we won’t be influence to sin. (Something to Meditate on!)
Going back to a previous articles I was led to write, David knew how to Pray about God’s Righteousness. Allow me to briefly outline these short Prayers;
* David Prayed, Deliver me in YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS (Psalm 71:2 NKJV)
* Behold, I long for YOUR precepts; Revive me through YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS (Psalm 119:40 NAS)
Notice how David mentions REVIVE (NAS), the King James translation says, quicken. Quicken means—Revive, made alive or renewed life. So whether we ask God to REACTIVATE HIS GLORY OR RIGHTEOUSNESS in our lives. We need to understand that when we miss it, grow cold, or become complacent—we can come back and say, AWAKE MY GLORY or REVIVE ME IN YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. For what purpose? To get back on track serving HIM.
Paul told Timothy to do the same thing—STIR UP THE GIFT
Therefore I remind you to STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD which is in you through the laying on of my hands. (2 Timothy 1:6 NKJV)
Paul taught us how to AWAKE, STIR UP, REVIVE ourselves when we become complacent or if we lose the fire of serving God. David gave us clear examples of how to Pray to get back on track.
The King James says, fan the flames. (2 Tim. 1:6 KJV)
Knowing what we have!
We have the HOLY SPIRIT inside of us. (John 14:16-17, 26 NKJV) We tap into the Power of the Spirit by Praying.
We start by saying, Father, in Jesus name, Reactivate Your Glory. Revive YOUR Righteousness in our lives. Empower us to AWAKE out of our complacency, spiritual dullness, and every other thing that’s discouraging us from serving YOU O God.
We have not been given an evil spirit of fear, but we have The HOLY SPIRIT who gave us Power, Love and a Sound Mind to serve YOU, O God. Because Greater is HE (The Holy Spirit) that’s in us--than satan and his evil forces that are in the world (2 Tim. 1:7/ 1 John 4:4 NKJV).
* So AWAKE my Glory.
* AWAKE my Righteousness.
* AWAKE my Power.
* AWAKE my LOVE.
* AWAKE my Sound Mind.
* AWAKE my Being O Father, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
