‘I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW!’
And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Revelation 21:5;
The version of the life there is now, is absolutely not the version God originally had in mind when He created man. By deceiving man to sin against God at the beginning, the devil succeeded in frustrating the beautiful plan of God for humanity. The entrance of sin brought curses, sorrow, sickness, hardships, pains, evil, wickedness, untold afflictions and wretchedness into the life of man. Man lost the original home, the Garden of Eden, a paradise beautifully prepared by God for him. The life there is now is obviously the opposite of the life we were meant to live in the paradise we lost as a result of sin, but the greatest concern of God has been how to lead us back into that paradise, the home He made for us originally.
As mentioned, God’s intention is to restore man to his lost estate, and this is the reason He sent His Son Jesus Christ to begin and finish the work of redemption of humanity. When the Almighty God says ‘I make all things new’, the usual thinking of many is that the fulfillment of this word in Revelation 21:5, will take place only after the end of this present world, when God would have created a new heaven and a new earth. However, we need to understand that the mind of God is not for us to wait till then before we begin to experience and enjoy the newness He promised. For every one of us who has truly found Christ, the intention of God is that our lives here on earth, should reflect the bliss and beauty of Heaven, even though we presently live in a chaotic, wicked and cruel world. No wonder the scripture in 2Corithians 5:17 says ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new’.
God’s burning desire is to make all things new for us, and this is what the new life in Christ is all about. The newness God promised begins when we yield our lives to Christ and forsake sin. There’s no way we can experience the newness God has declared, when our hearts are full of darkness of sin and we do not have a relationship with Christ. Being in Christ is the beginning of newness of life. For those who are in Christ, God wants to make all, all things new. What this means is that old things, and everything that is connected with the old life under the control of satan, shall be no more. The lives of those who are truly in Christ are supposed to reflect Paradise. Like it is in Heaven, nature of God must displace the carnal nature, righteousness must replace sin; blessings must displace curses; unspeakable joy must displace sorrows; total freedom must displace satanic oppression; promotions must replace limitations; divine health must take the place of sicknesses; and victory must take the place of defeats, for He that sits upon the throne says ‘I make all things new’!
If you’re truly in Christ, the Almighty God had already made all things new for you, but it’s up to you as an individual to live in that consciousness and reject the old life and everything that goes with it. When all things become new, the experience is best described as heaven, and this is your heritage in Christ. It’s very possible to live like you’re in the Paradise of God even though you’re still a tenant in this world. Exodus 9:24-26 tells us of how God made a Paradise out of the land of Goshen, even though the land was right in the midst of Egypt which was ravaged with plagues and destruction. ‘So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that [was] in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail’. If you’re in Christ, the curses running in your family should not have power over you; the limitations in your generation should not truncate your destiny; the evil fate that befell your fathers should not befall you, you must not be satisfied to accept the old when God says He has made all things new for you. Look into your life and see if there are old things which can never be found in Christ, and begin to resist them vehemently.
Don’t be satisfied with ‘old things’, the real experience of Paradise is what God wants for you! Whatever enjoyment you’re having at the moment can never be compared with what God has in mind for you. Luke 5:39 says ‘No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, the old is better’. Never accept anything less than the new; the ugly and shameful old things must pass away in your health, marriage, business, career, finances etc, for He that sits upon the throne says ‘I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW’! Amen.
Shalom!
