The many ways we Glorify God
Hi Faith-writers, I thank God for another opportunity to share HIS Word with HIS people. I’m sorry for the delay in writing. My Windows expired, so I renewed it on my laptop. Then the battery dies and I had to order another one. Now, that I’m back we are going to continue on the topic of GLORY, focusing on THE MANY WAYS WE CAN GLORIFY GOD; that’s revealed to us in the Old and New Testament.
In my last article, we looked at how Jesus spoke about GLORIFYING GOD, by the WORKS and MINISTRY the FATHER had given HIM to do on earth. (See John 17:4 NKJV)
Today, we are going into more areas which the Bible makes clear to us on how we can Practically GLORIFY GOD. It would be very insightful and helpful to many of us who are somewhat clueless in GLORIFYING GOD. I learned some new things as I was digging out this topic. There are areas that I’m practically applying that I haven’t in the past, with that said, let’s get into GLORIFYING GOD.
Letting our Lights Shine
Jesus said, you are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matt. 5:14 NKJV)
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. (Matt. 5:15 NKJV)
Let your LIGHT so shine before men, that they may see your GOOD WORKS and GLORIFY your FATHER in heaven. (Matt. 5:16 NKJV)
Notice how Jesus said, we are the LIGHT of the world. I shared a testimony in my previous article, on how Junito was beaming with the GLORY of GOD upon his face. And that Glorious Light affirmed to me that he was Saved. After the encounter I had with Junito I watched him daily. And he continue to reflect the Glorious Light of God’s Presence and Power in his life that continued to affirm to me that—he’s real, God is Real, and the life he is living reflects the GOOD WORKS that a believer should be displaying.
When we become Born-again (Saved). We will Supernaturally change on the inside. Things we used to do we are not doing. At first, after we are Saved, people will be confused and call us religious, hypocrites, and more… However, after sometime GOD will set us up on high on a lampstand so to speak, or a city set on a hill (this is the promotion we encounter, because of God’s favor on our lives), then we will be the examples of Light people see giving LIGHT to the dark world around us and they will GLORIFY GOD for the GOOD WORKS we continue to display on a daily basis.
Let me give you an example of what this LIGHT SHINNING BEFORE MEN means, I’ve been a porter for 4 years and 8 months. I work the graveyard shift 10pm to 6am. I’m the only one in the building as a maintenance worker during these hours. I clean the entire building by myself thoroughly. 27 bathrooms, on 10 floors. I remove 36 garbage can liners, wipe down everything on my way down, doors, walls 4 kitchens, and on the first floor there’s 6 tables and 36 chairs. I have to sweep and mop the 10 floors, power wash 4 properties glass fronts and all, tie a stack a boxes daily. And leave the building spotless with new paper towels, toilet paper and more. I do it in 5 hours daily. The other 3 hours I’m preaching and testifying about GOD.
In contrast, there are 4 maintenance workers during the day. And they sleep or rest in the locker room barely showing any good works (according to other staff and the residences who tell me). My supervisor doesn’t do anything about their laziness. But all the people GLORIFY GOD for the good works that I do. They appreciate me and always compliment me. This is when I preach to them about the Kingdom of God and why I do what I do. The Bible teaches me to do all my work with all my might as onto the Lord and not onto men (Colossians 3:23-24 NKJV)
Although I feel it’s unfair and I feel like Joseph (Jacob’s son) who had to work with careless and lazy co-workers. I know this is only for a season and soon God will promote me out of this place and grant me greater blessings. However, I continue to LET THE LIGHT SHINE BEFORE MEN. Amen.
Peter also wrote about being examples onto the world (See, 1 Peter 2:11-12 NKJV).
Glorifying God in our bodies
Another area that we can GLORIFY GOD is in our Bodies. Paul said it this way;
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. (1 Cor. 6:18 NKJV)
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? (1 Cor. 6:19 NKJV)
For you were bought at a price; therefore GLORIFY GOD in your body and in your spirit, which are GOD’S. (1 Cor. 6:20 NKJV)
By NOT engaging in sexual immorality---we GLORIFY GOD! There is more to be said about doing this and how we can tap into the Power of God to Anoint us to abstain from sexual immorality. By praying LORD, quicken me, revive me, and make me alive from the evil desire to engage in sexual immorality according to YOUR Word, YOUR SPIRIT, YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS in JESUS’ MIGHTY name. (See article Dimensions of GOD’S Power for more insight into this.)
Glorifying God after being Supernaturally Healed
After the paralyzed man was Healed, he GLORIFIED GOD on his way to his house (Luke 5:25 NKJV) (Whole story Luke 5:17-26 NKJV)
After the Blind man was healed he GLORIFIED GOD for experiencing new sight (Luke 18:43 NKJV) (Whole story Luke 18:35-43 NKJV)
Glorifying God after witnessing a Supernatural Vision
The Shepherds who were caring for the sheep witness a host of Angels singing when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. After that they went to see the Child and GLORIFIED GOD for allowing them to experience this Supernatural encounter (Luke 2:8-20 NKJV)
We need to have the same enthusiasm that they had about encountering the Supernatural and stop being afraid of Dreams, Visions, Angelic Visitations, and Audible Voices of the Holy Spirit when we experience them. Many Christians today are so scared of the Supernatural that any mention of it—they either judge you by saying, “Huh, they swear they are so spiritual”, or they may stay far away from you after you share the Vision or Dream and label you as an evil person who the devil is speaking too. It’s a real shame the ignorance among the Body of Christ. We must grow up spiritually and believe that God is still communicating with us today by these Supernatural means. (See Acts 2:17-21 NKJV)
Glorifying God thru Praise and Worship
Another way we can GLORIFY GOD is through PRAISE and WORSHIP (Psalm 22:23 NKJV/ Psalm 86:9 NKJV)
Now, we need to understand that PRAISE and WORSHIP is not only singing songs in Church on Sunday morning. We can PRAISE and WORSHIP verbally at any time of the day. Then we can demonstrate Praise every time we receive something. Like, thank you Lord, for this gift. Thank you Lord, for getting me to and from work safely. Thank you Lord for the train coming on time. Thank you Lord, for allowing me to complete my job task.
The point is, we must learn how to Praise God anywhere at any time and it should become a lifestyle of Praise and thanksgiving we offer to God for every little blessing we encounter.
The Meaning of Glorify
We must consider the Meaning of Glorify, because it will help us refocus our attention toward God when we go through trails, hardships and challenges that may be too overwhelming at times.
To Glorify means;
1. To make Glorious; give Glory to.
2. To exalt and honor (God), as in worship.
3. To Praise extravagantly; honor; extol.
4. To make seem better, larger, finer, etc. than is actually the case.
I want to focus on number 4, TO MAKE SEEM BETTER, LARGER, AND FINER THAN IS ACTUALLY THE CASE.
We usually do this with our problems, struggles, trials, and difficult circumstances we created or have come our way to challenge our faith. We magnify and glorify our problems—than Glorify God who is BIGGER, BETTER, FINER THAN OUR PROBLEMS. And we do so because we don’t lean on the Promises of God to get us out of the mess were in.
Let’s read what God had instructed us about GLORIFYING HIM in this situation;
Call upon ME in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall GLORIFY ME (Psalm 50:15 NKJV)
Wherefore GLORIFY ye the Lord in the fires, even the name of the Lord God of Israel in the isles (furthermost) of the sea. (Isaiah 24:15 KJV)
If we learn how to make GOD BIGGER than our problem actually is, BY GLORIFYING HIM instead of our struggles—God promises to deliver us and then we can continue to GLORIFY HIM. So let’s continue to Glorify God as the Scriptures instructs us. And in time it will become a lifestyle to the point that no matter what we encounter we will arise out of the trial and test victoriously and continue to Glorify HIM, Amen.
May God Bless you with Revelation on how to Glorify Him, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
