Finding the lost at sea- (a Saga)
(Finding the GREATEST joy)
There is an old childhood friend of mine ...
I think he's lost at sea!
We laughed, we cried, but now I contemplate,
"Why have you deserted me?"
My mind can barely fathom
what he looks like anymore
It can't seem to get past the horiffic vision of him lying there
on that ocean floor.
It often gives my soul little fits,
to think of a friend that I barely even knew
But It keeps me rolling with my marbles
on that rolling marble blue
Sometimes at bay, when I think of him,
a horrible, misty image fills my brain....
It's a view of me tying up an angst filled little boy, on a ship...
and he is crying in the rain!
Because of this, everytime it rains,
I'm reminded somewhat of him.
But its on those gorgeous SUNNY days,
that my hope of seeing him grows slim.
Sometimes
I get little reminders of what he looked like
when I see some peoples' faces...
A laugh here
A smile there
Or a fellow sailor triumphing over
life's travailing paces
Oftentimes I would think
"Hey, maybe I could play with that new rich kid,
who's been "flaunting himself
'bout town"...
but his antics to me, always seemed
to be those
of a phony, pointless clown.
Some days a drunken sailor blows in,
and I think, maybe this salty sea dog might be him,
He walks like him,
and talks like him
and enthralls me
much in the same way
But I find he really is nothing like him,
in the sobering light of day.
(Though sometimes I really miss HIM too)
Some days
I busily mend my sails
so I don't have time to think of him ...
Other days people unknowingly guilt me
for letting his elusive memory grow dim.
Legend has it, there's a lifeboat out there,
rolling over that deepening sea of pain...
where the treacherous water gets rougher and deeper...
with every time it rains
This lifeboat
manned by a mighty, broad-shouldered skipper...
"Cap'n Carpenter" emblazened on his weathered lid...
The saga has it, that he sails these seas proclaiming :
"I AM cap'n carpenter,
and Me always get's Me kid"
In Hopes He might finally rescue and unite me
with my missing friend out there ...
I'd wander about,
shooting up into the heavens,
some desperation flares.
BUT, Finally realizing that
it was really ME,
who killed my childhood friend.
The boy named "JOY", who
was lost at Sea,
that I'd never see again.
The boy that I slowly tied up...
and left there abandoned in the pouring rain.
Was, In effect, a torturous waterboarding
occuring in my own brain.
Instead of joining my old friend there lifeless,
at the bottom of the sea.
I came face to face with that old
Cap'n Carpenter...
He was joyfully greeting me
When His eyes
met mine,
Without even verbalizing,
they said, I've been scouring
your dark mental sea!
"I AM I AM!
I am THAT boy!
It's me!
It's Me!
IT'S ME!"
Just in case you happened to have missed it, the old Capt'n Carpenter is Jesus. It is when I really found Jesus, or when He scoured clean the lost Sea of my mind and heart is when He "found" ME. THAT is when I really found true joy in my life. The joy and peace that passes ALL understanding! Or, as the end of my little poem States, "He IS my joy!"
