Britain's choice Christianity or Islam
I think it's generally inbuilt in humanity that we need to know if the worst happens there is hope of something better - heaven. That's why religion can't be killed off. On from this: vacuums get filled. Turning our back on our Christian heritage (you are free to believe or not) will not get rid of religion. Increasingly it will open a door to another religion - Islam. We know that it already is.
Christians backslide - Muslims usually don't. Once Islam gets set in it is hard to make a shift. The freedom to consider an alternative is not apparent in countries where Islam is the dominant religion and political ideology.
I'm glad that I was brought up in a country where I could believe in a God who loves us despite us. A God who went to extraordinary lengths to save us. A God who is willing to give chance after chance. If anything drew me to the Christian faith it was love. I at least knew that Jesus represented love and forgiveness. And love in it's highest form. Our world has just experienced, in the extreme, faith leading to ultra-violent hatred. Let me say, this is incomprehensible to a true follower of Christ. As it should be to all who believe we have a Creator. Indeed to all people whether they be of faith or not.
It's not just Christians being slaughtered but I want to ask the following. Why are so many (in a human sense benign Christians) being slaughtered around the world? In the main, they pay the ultimate price simply for standing up for and reaching out with a message of love, in places where it is deemed a crime to believe in Jesus.
I have to conclude: there can be no other reason to wipe out peace loving people, than there is, 'A devil hating Jesus' inspiring it. That's another story - suffice to say, he is never blamed for anything - is he? Either he doesn't exist or he is exquisitely under-cover.
You who have backslidden from the Christian faith, or you who are anti-Christian, and you who have a secret belief that's not public, think again, if only for your children or grandchildren. British Society will not improve if it tries to eradicate Jesus from its conscience and the public arena. Humanity will never eradicate religion, we Brits might just succeed in rearranging it's majority.
Christian apostates don't get killed by other Christians; Muslim apostates do. Christians are free to change their faith without persecution, Muslims are not. Is this what we want for the UK? How much have we taken for granted? It was a comfort to me to think there was a Jesus even before I believed in him. Maybe it was a 'just in case' scenario - particularly when I was serving in the armed forces in a dangerous situation. It was always a comfort to my insecurities to think I could always hope, despite my lacking morality and right behaviour, that Jesus was just a prayer away.
Life is ok when it's working: secure, long and fulfilling. But where do we turn when it's not? Religion fills that gap for people.
There will always be religion.
I didn't start out as a Christian but it was there for me when I needed it. I had a free choice. There are lots of new minarets in the skyline of Britain there are no new church spires in Saudi Arabia or Iran. The former Sunni Muslim the latter Shia Muslim. Why? Because they don't allow it. We allow hate filled people on our streets speaking of our destruction, such radicals are against our country from within our country. Unbelievable! The reason these radicals say what they say, is because we don't believe what they believe. That's it! We are heathen and infadel. At it's most radical form Islam believes we have no right to live. That's all of us who don't believe what they believe.
Christianity believes that even in the last moments of a person's life one can turn to Jesus, even if he has believed in another religion, and he or she will be received and pardoned (the thief on the cross). How comforting it has been to have that truth preached in our wonderful nation, for centuries, whether we have chosen to believe it or not. Point being: we Brits have all, always been given this choice. You do not freely (at least without persecution) have that choice in: Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar , Dubai, Moldives, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia to name some. Let alone the so called: Islamic State or Boko-Haram dominated areas of Nigeria. Why? They are Muslim countries or Muslim dominated areas.
We ought to count the cost before we so easily become secularised and abandon the Christian faith and all that it has offered to a once Great Britain.
One final thought: if Britain becomes a less tolerant society with a Muslim majority, will Using Jesus name as a swear word go out of fashion, to be replaced by the use of the name of the Prophet of Islam as a swear word. Alas, I think not! We all know that's unthinkable we just haven't all realised why.

Your article is spot on. Having lived in London for seventeen years up to 1973, I am blown away by what I have seen in the London I made my home for those years. The taking over in all areas by Muslims who demand that changes be made to accommodate their own cultural background and seem to be getting away with it, is worthy of note. There may be more mosques now than Anglican Churches which seem to have given way to pubs, etc. What a shame! If we do not have Jesus, we are lost and your article makes reference to this and so many countries seem to be losing out because they have abandoned God. Thanks for your brilliantly-written message.
