A child should do nothing on His own without the consent of His parent. An employee cannot do what he or she wants to do without the consent of their employer. In the same way, as children of God, you should not do anything without the consent of our Father in heaven.
Jesus never did anything without the consent and authority of the Father. All that He did, and all that was appointed to Him was done in accordance to the will of the Father. Even the sentence of man on the day of Judgment, which will be given to Him to do, will be decided according to what the Father wills - "For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son" (John 5:22)
Jesus came to do the will of the Father who sent Him, not to promote His own agenda. He was in perfect fellowship with the Father, totally inseparable from the Father, as it should be with every believer in the body of Christ.
God already has a plan. It is perfect, flawless, harmless, and needs no tweaking. Your job is to execute His plan according to His will, that through your work God may be seen and glorified. Although you have been called, ordained and sent by God, you are still expected to consult with Him for His consent or permission, before making decisions, or making a move, making sure you are in sync with His will.
And as you hear from God, do whatever He tells you to do, nothing more, nothing less, and with no intentions of promoting yourself or your agenda. It is He who gives the increase, and it is He who will be exalted.
When was the last time you checked in with God to see whether you are on track and in sync with what He has called you to do? If you are making decisions and making moves without consulting with God, then you are out of sync with the will of God, and are pursuing your own agenda, instead of yielding yourself to the plans and purposes of God.
