One lonely soul in the sands of time,
One lonely soul in a sea of sorrows
I pray that I may find the strength
To rise and face the challenge of my tomorrows,
One broken vessel on a wild, restless sea,
Struggling not to go under to sink and drown
One sea-weary sailor bailing out the boat
Trying his best not to let his ship go down.
I cried out to the Captain of the storm
To stop the storms and give me rest
But He said, “No all these white caps
And angry gusts are a very necessary kind of test.
I wailed that I could never stand another wave
Crash over my bow and beat me down so low
But He answered, “Hold on to your soul my child
And do not be always doubting so.”
I will lift you out of your sea of pain
Only when it has set your soul free,
For I know from vast experience with men
That only the broken ones listen to Me.
