The origin of Satan is quite interesting because it is not what one would expect; his former name was Lucifer who was an angel created in perfect beauty. However, the ugly face of pride entered Lucifer’s heart through free will and the evilness of sin followed causing him to rebel against God. There is only one true God Almighty who could never be overthrown by anyone or anything and in Lucifer’s failed attempt to overtake God’s Kingdom he was subsequently cast out of Heaven.
Isaiah 14:12-15 How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.
Whenever I ponder the idea of how Lucifer was once upon a time so very privileged to coexist in Heaven with God, but in his delusional being, he freely traded it for the pits of Hell surpasses my deepest comprehension. How convincing the devil, also known as Satan, is to literally entice one third of angelic beings in his rebellious war against God. But, I really should not be too surprised because there are countless human beings in today’s world who are also allured by the devil and his temptations as a catalyst for choosing a life of continual sin. Maybe these groups of lost souls also believe that they are greater than our Heavenly Father, morally exchanging God’s Will for their own; unaware that the devil’s evil power is only for a season while God’s power is without end.
Revelation 12:9 “The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”
1 John 3:8 “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”
As a Christian I have reconciled that the prophecies of the Bible are proven to be true in every aspect in which they were written. It is so obvious how the future will unfold as is evidenced by historical writings of God’s prophets. I just do not understand how this revelation escapes unbelievers in such a way that they would rather rebel and be subjected to the same fate of the evil one when they could instead be blessed with eternal life promised by God Almighty. Numerous souls are either knowingly or unknowingly choosing to reject the Son of God and the Holy Spirit which will ultimately condemn them to a life of brimstone with Satan and his demons surrounded by eternal fires of Hell. Living in sin is easy, but accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and choosing to resist the devil takes courage and obedience which in the end will lead to eternal life.
James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Hebrews 1:1-14 “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.”
One of Satan’s many wicked plots is to lure the grace of forgiveness from our hearts in order to replace it with animosity so that we will be enslaved by hate rather than by unconditional love. Satan was close to God at the beginning of time, so he knows how crucial it is to forgive others; because if we choose not to forgive one another, neither will God forgive us which will ultimately threaten our earthly peace as well as our eternal heavenly residence.
2 Corinthians 2:10-11 “Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.”
Satan’s life is already mapped out through Biblical prophecy which clearly indicates his defeat; but there is still a chance for each and every sinner and/or unbeliever to repent and serve God through love, reverence and undying faith. The devil devises many schemes to win souls over to his side and one of the most powerful is the love of money; material things come and go, but the Word of God is everlasting and it offers the tools we need to cross over from death into life. The writing is on the wall but it is up to us to choose which master is worthy to serve; and for me, it is unequivocally God!
Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”
Peace, faith, hope, love and blessings to you all.
