Though I sit here in the silence of my home
My loved ones are now fast asleep
I listen to the nothingness that surrounds me
Pleased to hear the silence missing too long
I enjoy these moments that are mine to keep
Life seems to come to its full clarity
Praise God for allowing me these tiny moments in time
So that my fellowship with him will be blessed
No one spends quality time with a loved one in hustle and bustle
Our daily lives can be so noisy, distracting, and out of rhyme
I soak up the silence and enjoy a moment devoid of stress
My mind is clear, helping to relax every single muscle
Once was a time when chaos filled my mind
Silence was the enemy and I cared for it not
Today I am wiser and perhaps a little more tired
As age has come and life is so much sweeter I find
Intellectually, I do not know if that I’ve got
But spiritually I have never been more fired
Time with my Father, where uninterrupted I can pray
Say what needs to be said and repent of my sin
Reading my Bible when I can soak up the pages
Amazing, this book, what God’s word has to say
Helping me through this world I’m living in
Simply amazing how it has stood throughout the ages
This amazing word, that needs not to be spoken
Just reading it will guide you through your day
A model for every situation is there between the binding
Sharing it with others will repair lives that are broken
Show you mercy and guidance in every conceivable way
It is there for you to read, there for your finding
Yes, silence is golden and from it I am again made whole
My spiritual batteries recharged with God’s word for you and me
I set out on my mission to what end I do not know
My cup now runs over and I need a large bowl
This may seem silly to one who does not see
But I shall do my Father’s bidding wherever may I go
