There is this quote that says, “A woman who doesn’t ask for anything, deserves everything.” This fits my precious wife to a tee. She is just a good ole country girl, and has never needed the finer things in life. I have done my best to provide for her, and that has always seemed to be enough. In our 26 years together, I have never once heard her complain about our life together, and believe me there have been plenty reasons she could have. We are finally at a point in our lives where we are living comfortable; but raising four kids on the salaries we used to make, we certainly had our share of hard times. I can remember looking through couch cushions, and under car seats just looking for change to buy things we needed. But did she ever complain, NEVER! I used to get so embarrassed when other women would give her clothes so she would have nicer things to wear to work. But, she just accepted them with grace, and wore them with pride. If there was ever anyone who deserves to have her dreams come true, it is her.
My wife has always told me that she saw me in her dreams before we ever met. I want to believe that it was God who gave her that dream, and I trust He is continually molding me into that man she saw so many years ago. I know there has always been this deep desire within me to make her happy, and I can only assume that desire comes from God. He is always showing me ways to show her how much she means to me. Sometimes it’s as simple as a couple weeks ago. She was still not able to return to work yet, and I heard her getting sick in the bedroom. I went to check on her to see if there was anything I could do to help her. I’ll spare you the details, but afterwards I asked if there is anything I could get her. She said she would like a cheese toast, with the edges cut off and hot tea. Simple enough, so I go make it and take it to her in bed. Not a big deal, just a simple act of love. Then there are other times when God will show me bigger things, that I know He is wanting me to do for her. Sometimes it’s a 7-day cruise, and sometimes it’s just a weekend getaway somewhere. Whatever it is He puts on my heart, I try my best to make it become a reality; because I know He is just showing me how to make her every dream come true.
My wife has NEVER asked or expected me to take her anywhere, but she has told me her two dream vacations are to Hawaii and Italy. So I think you probably know what I am praying about. By this time each year I have usually got our cruise booked, and it has always given us something to look forward to. This year, I hope to take her to one of her dream vacations, and just waiting on the Lord for wisdom. I have to be patient and remember, His timing is ALWAYS perfect.
As I sit here this morning, in the presence of my God, examining my life, and asking the Lord to please help me become the man that my wifee has always dreamed about. I also understand this is the man that God created me to be. When He was knitting me together in my mothers womb, He knew I would one day have a wife who would need me to be here for her in a very special way; to help her when she is getting sick, to hold her tight when she is feeling helpless and discouraged; to remind her that God has us both securely in His most capable hands, and to let her know that, as long as I have a breathe left in me, she will not face one moment of the battle alone. But in the midst of all the turmoil, God will also use me to help bring her the greatest joy imaginable. He absolutely loves to bless His children, as many of you have seen in our lives these last 4+ years. As much as I would love to take the credit for bringing my wife all this joy, the truth is I am simply the vessel God chose to pour out His blessings through. I have to tell you, in the process of making all my wife's dreams come true, my dreams are coming true as well; because my dream has always been to make her dreams come true.
From my heart to yours!
