In John chapter 4, Jesus deals with a woman who needs some healing. She has been married 5 times and the man she is currently with is not her husband. She is shunned by the other women, because of her lifestyle plus she is a Samaritan. So she has to do all her work in the middle of the day when hardly anyone is around. She has no idea of Whom she is about to meet and how her life will change because of His Touch.
When Jesus approaches the woman he asks for a drink of water and she questions Him as to why He is even talking to her. After all, He is a Jew and she a Samaritan so the two are not supposed to mix. Jesus talks to the woman anyway, because He knows that His Father is no respecter of person, and she needs to hear what He has to say. She needs to see the Truth for what it actually is. He knows that the only way to true freedom, healing and salvation is to know the Truth. Then and only then can one be set healed, delivered, and set totally free. So, inspite of her objections, Jesus goes forward with His message.
As Jesus speaks to the Samaritan Woman, He meets the woman where she is and not where He expects her to be. He deals with her issues and shows her the Greater Way. He accepts her for who she is and tells her that she needs to drink of the Living Water that comes only through knowing the Son of God. Eventually she gets it, the light comes on, and her salvation journey begins.
Now I don't know what happens to the woman after she meets Jesus and goes to town to tell the others of her experience. But if I could use my "holy imagination for a moment. I like to give my version. I would venture to say that after she bears witness to the Truth, the Way, and the Light, that she went home and began to clear out the "baggage". Out went the low self-esteem. Out went the low self-image. Out went the luggage that carried years of feeling unwanted and useless. Finally out went the man, who really did not love her in the first place. With each piece of baggage she threw out, she saw herself in a new light. The way Jesus saw her. She was now joint heir to the Throne and the adopted child of God. She was the apple of His eye and because of Jesus, God saw her in perfect way.
Praising Him daily was now her life, because she had been healed, delivered, and set free by the Lord and Savior to all who believe.
So to each of you I say look to Jesus and be healed.
