Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
(Matthew 5:6 KJV)
In continuing the Beatitudes we are now looking at verse 6, as is seen above.
When we see here the words hunger and thirst we often think first about sustenance; food and drink.
May we now examine these two words to get a clearer understanding of what the Holy Spirit through the writer is actually saying.
G3983

2) in a narrower sense, justice or the virtue which gives each his due
In these words volumes can be written and spoken (Hunger, Thirst and Righteousness).
we here are not talking about Justice as injured persons, be that injury spiritual, mental, physical, financial, sexual and so on – We are not to seek a more legal righteousness such as the Jews of that day were desperately seeking and searching after. What we are speaking of here is a justifying righteousness both of and in Christ; from Christ alone this can come. No other can offer you righteousness, no matter what the conditions or promises may be. This righteousness can only be found and kept daily until our deliverance at the Rapture, by faith. We are kept by faith, not by works – yet we must have works to show our faith at times. (That’s another subject all together)
G5526
Χορτάζω
Filled
chortazō
Thayer Definition:
1) to feed with herbs, grass, hay, to fill, satisfy with food, to fatten
1a) of animals

Our last wo in verse 6 is Filled. This is of course to be done son with and by righteousness, with the good things of Christ, with joy and peace.
None of the words here used nor their meanings and neither the intention of this writer, depend on outward possessions, such as worldly goods or finances, real-estate, jewelry, fame and so on.
At the moment you decide to say yes to Jesus Christ you can, that quickly, step suddenly into this beatitude and begin to drink of the water of life, and do so freely.
Jesus Christ lived this life, Jesus Christ is this life: He lived it and remains it, therefore can easily bring us into it, into His loving arms. All we need do is say yes to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
