Healing
Pray for one another that you may be Healed
In my last article, we learned that Jesus can forgive us and then HEAL us, or Jesus can HEAL us and then forgive us. You see, when we study any topic in Scripture—we must do what Paul said to Timothy and that is, RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH. So we explained a little about the how the Disciples of Jesus and the blind man, as well as the Religious order believed that:
* People who are afflicted may have a generational curse upon their lives (John 9:1-3 NKJV) OT reference (Exodus 20:4-6 NKJV)
* God doesn’t hear sinners. (John 9:24-34 NKJV)
* Or that we cannot be Healed unless we are Saved (Jesus Healed the blind man than Saved him John 9:35-38 NKJV)
* Or that we must get our lives right before God can Heal us (We read that James instructed us if we are sick to call the elders of the Church and to have them pray over us; and the Prayer of faith shall save the sick and the LORD shall raise them up. And if they have committed sins it will be forgiven them (James 5:13-15 NKJV)
* Now, the reason Christians believe that we must get our lives right before God can HEAL us is because they consider the Healing story of King Hezekiah in (2 Kings 20:1-11 NKJV).
Hezekiah made several mistakes as King, and his pride of being an accomplished king caught up with him, so an affliction came upon him. The Prophet Isaiah inquired of the Lord to see what would be the outcome of his affliction. Isaiah gave it to him straight that he will die, if he didn’t set his house in order. When Hezekiah heard this he turned to the wall on his bed and wept asking the Lord for mercy. So the Lord stopped Isaiah and told him to go back to Hezekiah and tell him HE heard his cry and that HE will extent his life another 15 years.
Rightly Dividing, Rightly handling the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV)
Teachers Note: As students of Scripture we must always go deeper when it comes to digging any topic out of Scripture. In Rightly Handling the topic of Healing we must Rightly Divide;
* The Old Testament Healings from the New Testament Healings.
* We must ask the investigative questions such as;
* Who was afflicted? In the Old and the New Testaments
* Why were they afflicted?
* What was the affliction, sickness or disease?
* How long did the affliction last?
* Was it the devil or God’s Judgment that caused the affliction?
* How did the Healing Power of God come to that person or nation?
* Was it a believer or an unbeliever who received Healing?
When we are this detailed in our investigative studies we will find that God Heals differently in the New Testament than in the Old Testament. Therefore, to say that we must get our lives together before we seek God for Divine Healing is not New Testament—it is Old Testament instructions given to unbelievers and believers King Abimelech in Genesis chapter 20 and Hezekiah in 2 Kings 20:1-11 NKJV. Were instructed this way to get their act together or they will die. They got it together and lived. They were both able to experience God’s Healing Power.
So what about New Testament Believers?
In the New Testament, we know that Jesus Heals and then forgives; or Forgives and then Heals—or Heals and then Saves. Hallelujah!!!
* The paralyzed man at the Pool (John 5:1-18 NKJV). Jesus Healed this man before dealing with this man about his sin. After the Healing then Jesus warned the man not to commit the sin he committed that led to his affliction. Or else a worst thing will come upon him.
* Jesus Heals and then Saves (John 9:1-38 NKJV) Jesus clarified it wasn’t a generational curse. That the blind man is under. Then Jesus made it clear HE must Work the Works of God and Heal him. After the Healing Jesus met up with the man again and the man was Saved.
* Jesus forgave the paralyzed man who was let down from the roof by his 4 friends, and then Jesus Healed him. (Matthew 9:1-7 NKJV)
* Then we considered the New Testament instructions of what James wrote about obtaining Divine Healing and then forgiveness, by being prayed over and anointed with oil by the elders of the Church. (James 5:13-15 NKJV)
* Now we are going to the next instruction about Confession, Prayer and Healing.
James continued to gives more information and instructions of obtaining Divine Healing (New Testament style). James wrote;
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, THAT YOU MAY BE HEALED. The effective, fervent Prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:16 NKJV)
* Step 1: We must confess to one another our trespasses that we committed. This of course, is a personal offense we have committed against the person we offended. (CONFESS YOUR TRESPASSES TO ONE ANOTHER).
* Step 2: Pray for one another. We are to come to a place of forgiveness and Pray for one another instead of allowing the offense to linger and grow bitter and become rivals.
* Step 3: When we do Confess to one another and Pray for one another sincerely we will be Healed. It’s really that simple to obtain Divine Healing from this angle or Method of Healing. Remember, there are many ways to receive Divine Healing and this is another method in the New Testament that we are instructed to practice so we may tap into the Healing Power of God.
My Testimony of Praying for one another
I have many awesome testimonies about this Scriptural Practice of obtaining Divine Healing.
1. In June 1993, my mom married a man who I knew was a player and a user. I was outraged and I wanted to give her my objections. I didn’t get a hold of her. Then I started to be enraged. I looked in the mirror and my left eye ball started to become red, then my nose started running. In my anger I said Lord, Heal me from this affliction. I heard an Audible Voice, and God said, I’m not going to answer your request, because you have to forgive this man and your mother. Take a bottle of oil and go the J.C. and have him pray over you.
I did what the Lord said, and J.C. wanted to know what is he praying for? I said, the Lord instructed me to go to you (an elder) and anoint me with oil and pray for my healing. J.C. did it and in the middle of the prayer I felt something leave my body. I was Healed, Praise God!
I went back to my room I looked in the mirror and my eyeball was clear and my nose stopped running. Hallelujah!!! I got on my knees to give Glory to God, and the Lord said, leave my mom and her new husband alone. Stop being manipulative and controlling toward her. She is MY daughter and I will deal with her. I said, Yes, Lord, I renounce the bitterness and I ask that you forgive me. I will not bother my mom about her decision to marry this man. But I ask that you continue to watch over her despite what I know about this man she married. I felt the Peace of God once again.
The Lord kept HIS WORD, this man was deported 2 years later. And then he eventually left my mom. He died 2007! God is in control folks—this is real Power we are talking about.
2. My second testimony was with J.C. that same year. J.C. was a Christian for about 7 years in 1993. I was a Christian for about 1 ½ years. Yet, God was using me to operate with Signs, Wonders, and Miracles. People were getting Healed and Baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence in speaking in tongues. J.C. grew jealous and then he was troubled because God was using me more than him.
One morning J.C. came and confessed his sin (trespass) about his jealousy. I said, I forgive you. We prayed together and he cried. I said, I have something for you, I gave him a copy of Ever-increasing Faith with Smith Wigglesworth. He read it all night. The following morning he was open and bless by the book. I said, I will buy one later on to have as my reference book. I said keep this copy I gave you. The following week someone moved out of our building. I was cleaning the utility closet and found another copy of Smith Wigglesworth book of Ever-Increasing Faith. God is Awesome!!!
The following month the Lord the led me to pray for Suarez and J.C. for an Impartation of a Spiritual gift on the 3rd level. They both were anointed for Ministry and God was using them as HE was using me with Signs, Wonder and Miracles. (See article, Praying for Impartation of a Spiritual Gift, written 1-22-2014)
You see, when we Confess our trespasses, and Pray for one another, God will Heal us if we are sincere about it. We can’t be like Moses, Aaron and Miriam who got into trouble. Miriam began talking bad about Moses--to Aaron. She made it seem that the Black Ethiopian woman was the issue. But it was Ministerial Jealous that was the underlining real issue. Well, God came down in a cloud and straightened Aaron and Miriam out about talking against Moses. God allowed her to be afflicted with leprous and told Moses to keep her out of the camp for 7 days. (Numbers 12:1-16 NKJV)
If we don’t forgive and confess our faults to one another, we open the door to Satan and he will have access to our lives to bring us confusion, hatred, bitterness and then affliction, sickness and disease will come on bodies. But if we are quick to forgive and not be bitter or jealous of others and their success we will be bless along with them. I am speaking from Scripture and personal experience. I’ve been there and done that! So, Confess your trespasses to one another, Pray for one another, so we may be HEALED in Jesus’ name, amen.
