Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life? This is a question the song writer posed in the song lyric.
On the sea of life, storms may arise against our smooth sailing in our health ...finances ...home ...carreer etc
When your storm arise you need to still it. The storm may arise to test you and it is required of you to pass the test.
This is the reason we have an anchor of the soul ...to keep it sure and steadfast.
The Anchor ...agkura ..gk, meaning ... anchor ...arm, of the Soul ....psuche ..gk, meaning ... animal sentient life, ...mind ...soul, must be in place at all times so that you do not drift and get lost on the sea of life.
The soul ...psuche ..gk.. which is only the animal sentient life can drift away easily according to the senses if not anchored.
The ...psuche ..gk ..soul is carnally minded, controlled by the senses and genders to death
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Rom 8:6
The hope we have as an anchor of the soul is Jesus Christ ...He is sure and steadfast ...unmovable ...unshakable ...the same Yesterday, Today and Forever.
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. Ps 62:6
An anchor is built comparable to the size of the ship or boat for good anchorage.
In other words, we are to build up our anchor in the Word to support our boat on the sea of life.
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Col 3:16
The storm may arise and the billows may roll against you on the sea of life but with good anchorage ...Jesus Christ ... we will still the storm and walk on the sea.
The devil designs and creates storms against you on the sea of life in order for you to drift away and distrust your anchor.
Your storm must not destroy or impair you but improve you. The storm may be to stop you awhile, ...to prepare you for a new season or ...to preserve you.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Rom 8:28
When the storm arise ...have faith in God, give yourself to prayer and the word for His grace is sufficient to anchor you through the storm.
Jesus did not say the storm would not come but when it arises He will see us through.
In other words He is cautioning us to expect the storm to arise against you but be of good cheer.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation:
But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Jn 16:33
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isa 43:2
... Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Mt 28:20
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Isa 12:2
Fasten therefore yourself to the Rock anchorage ...Jesus Christ ... your anchor of the soul, sure, steadfast and deep for the salvation of your soul.
