I had a dream I worked in a free library and I stood behind a counter, seeing someone in one of the aisles, skimming through the books on the shelf with her eyes. She looked like a corporate business woman, wearing a business jacket with a matching fitted skirt and was very professional looking, although at first glance, she wasn't dressed like that. She seemed very demanding and she searched through the aisles and finally came to me at the front desk. I noticed she wore bifocals over her glasses, almost as if they were microscopes attached to her glasses and I could tell she was frustrated because she couldn't find whatever it was she was looking for.
When she came over to me, she asked me where a certain book was. I told her it was in one of the aisles she missed and she argued with me saying she already looked there and behaved as if she was a "know it all". I felt like asking her, "If you think you know everything, why are you asking me where the book is?" But I could tell she just wanted to argue, so I ignored her and finally, she wanted me to show her where it was so that she could speculate the book. I came out from behind the counter to take her to the book and she put a smile on her face. (And again, that smile is the same smile I see in my other dreams, whenever people want me to do their work, including the "footwork" of having to search.)
Along the way, I saw there were obstacles blocking me from going down certain aisles, which made me take her the long way to get the book. But when I took her the long way, I felt like we couldn't get to the book because we kept having to go through detours to get near the aisle to where the book was located, because it kept moving to different locations on its own. Finally, I thought it was very strange how a book that was easily accessible to me, all of a sudden became so difficult to obtain, so I gave up and told the woman I couldn't find the book.
When I returned to the front desk, it suddenly came to me that, even though all of the books in the library was free, the only requirement was for people to have to find the book they were searching for, on their own and if they could not find it on their own, they weren't able to get to it any other way. However, I didn't want to tell her that because she already seemed angry, so, I shrugged my shoulders and let it go. And the only reason why I and my fellow employees were there, was to help point people in the right direction if they needed help, but we were not allowed to show them where it was but only give them directions to get to it, if they needed it. It was a very strange dream.
When I woke up from this dream, I compare it to the way people in reality try to use other people to find the answers they seek in life. Everyone wants to be taken straight to the answers, or be taught something without having to put in the effort to really look for it. People turn to "experts", "leaders" and the "wise" to help guide them and take them to where they want to be or give them what they need; and like Moses leading the Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years, I found myself taking this woman in circles- but without any fault of my own. I had every intentions of taking her to the book, but God determined that she had to find it herself.
I don't know why people don't want to put in the effort to seek. If they sought, they would find and I know, they wouldn't be disappointed. However, sometimes when people look for certain answers they are not ready to hear, the answers (like the book in my dream) will move further away from them, even when people around them, try to literally guide them to the truth.
The earth is like a Great Library. It is full of unwritten books, waiting to be read and Wisdom will come to you, like an open book, staring at you in your face, if you truly search for it with a humble heart. Knowledge is everywhere and it is seen and unseen, heard and unheard- God fills the earth with all kinds of knowledge but understanding is only found in the Book of Life. If you find the Book of Life, you will know it when you find the answers all around you- I pray you will get a chance to read it someday.
