"But Peter and John answered and said to them, 'Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.'” ~ Acts 4:19-20
This verse marks the point in the First Century where Christianity became a criminal act against the state of Judea then, and Rome later. Where once Christians were a sect of Judaism they soon were no longer regarded as Jews. For the next 500 years after this point it was a crime, punishable by death, for declaring Jesus as Lord against the Roman thought that Caesar was the true Lord. Until the Caesar known as Constantine, millions of those making such a statement died in horrendous ways if not left to live in exile or rotting in prison.
As Christianity began, so it will leave this world, where Christians will be regarded as enemies of the state in their respective country. Liberties once enjoyed by all faiths will soon be unavailable to those who truly love Christ. Their love for Him will be tested in every corner of the world, every part of civilization. While this is true in certain countries it will become the reality every where else. This is prophesied in scripture, as indicated by the falling away of people claiming to be Christians who will leave the historical teachings of the Apostles as handed down by Christ. This is the politically-correct Christ with his false church organized to save their own lives. This Apostate Church now exists, those who see the Bible as unreliable (2 Timothy 4:3). This aberration of the Christian church teaches anecdotes and slogans insisting on their pseudo-spirituality. They refute the Word of God that convicts them in their sin while applauding the ways of the world (Romans 1:32 and 2:1-11). These principles of theirs are easily refuted by Biblical Scripture. Like the rest of the world they will be "without excuse" (Romans 1:20).
Last night, I saw a current video of a Christian man captured and at gun point forced to declare another god and another prophet. He was told in the video he would be shot in the head for making such a statement, only to be told he is not a true believer and was beheaded. This was not a quick killing for the executioner used a machete and slowly sliced through the man's neck as if it was a loaf of bread. American churches are being threatened to lose their tax-exemption status if they fail to uphold the ideas that now grow popular. It is foolish to believe it will stop there. This is the world we live in now and it may become the mindset of my own country. We would do well to cease being complacent because even Jesus said enemies may come from our own household (Matthew 10:36). The day will arrive when one must decide to trust in Christ alone.
It seems to me now that decision must be made at this time. I may one day find myself with a machete at my throat. I pray I am counted worthy of the Lord (Luke 21:36). Just the same I know the Lord is able provide the necessary Grace to endure anything. (1 Corinthians 10:13).
There are two constants in the Universe: A world that changes, mostly for the worse, and an unchanging God.
