John 15:13 greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends
Romans 5:8 but God commended his love toward us; in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us
Christ has justified us by his blood so that we are saved from the wrath of hell that would come our way. Through him, his death, burial and resurrection we have been reconciled to God. What Father would give his only begotten Son to be killed for us? How many of us would even die for our loved ones? One thing Paul knew and that is the love of God. He understood what it was to be on the other side of God. He was one that like most of the Jews was self-righteous. Self-righteousness keeps us from loving right; for we love our selves more than God or our neighbor.
Paul was a person of a sect and if you didnít belong with them you were nothing and nobody; But God! While we are yet sinners we donít know what the true genuine love of God is all about; for we donít love ourselves enough to stop doing wrong. Love is an emotion, sentiment or feeling of pleasurable attraction toward, or delight in something: as a principle, a person or a thing which induces a desire for the presence, possession, well-being, or promotion of its object.
God commands us to love. There are blessings when we love. Love is enjoined, contagious and helps us to fulfill Godís will for our lives. To do it we must love. But God commended his love toward us. He loved man from the creation until now. If we ever fall in love with God we can come to love ourselves as we should. We can love everybody; family, neighbors, and friends. We can love even people we donít know or will never come in contact with. No greater love than this to love like God loves.
We canít say that we love God and hate anyone; it makes Him a liar (I John 4:20). Hatred stirs up strife but love covers all sin (Prov. 10:12). My sin is not greater than yours, for all have sinned and fallen short of Godís glory. At some point though in our walk with Christ we should grow where we stop sinning. We all need God but to realize this mean we see one another as God sees us. He commended his love to us; He entrusted his love in our care that we too would put it in the care of yet another. We were to commit our love to him also.
Love means we are worthy of the attention of God. We love Him to us as He loves us to Him. He is worthy of our love; He gave all for it. Love shows forth praise and adoration for; God expects it. When we love someone we too will give praise to them in adoration. Love brings it forth for it proceeds from the heart. God transmit his love through his Word and the things he do even when he chastens us for doing wrong. Love corrects us and keeps us from hatred. We canít love and hate out of the same heart.
Proverbs 17:17 a friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity. This means if we love although one may do us wrong there is no spirit of retaliation present. Love is stronger than the spirit of getting back at another. We donít do things to others that we ourselves wouldnít want. We must love with all our heart, soul, mind and spirit to love like God loves.
God gave his all for us; Himself, His Word, His son and His Spirit because of the love He have for us as Creator. How much more should we love Him? Mark 12:30 tells us that we should give God or everything; heart, soul, mind, and strength. Love is a great command of God because itís who He is. We donít love just to get something we want. Love is kind, so be kindly affectionate one to another.
Romans 13:8 owe no man anything but to love one another. How many of us can love if we have been robbed of something precious from the one needing the love? How many of us can love someone when they have taken something or someone precious from us? Can we love someone that has murdered a loved one? The love of God must be in us; where we can forgive, pray for another and see as God sees concerning the situation. God even say we have to love our enemies (Luke 6:35). How many of us that claim to possess the love of God can do this? God commended his love to us in that while we were yet sinners; he died for us. We have done things wrong too, but thank God we can get it right.
If we want God to grant us according to the richest of his glory we have to love. We have to grow to greater love; why? It will strengthen us with might by his Spirit in the inner man. Our hearts have to receive of God and allow His Spirit to dwell in us richly so that we grow in love. Our love has to grow! The more we come to know Christ and allow Him to dwell in us by faith we began to let love be rooted and grounded in us.
Greater love abounds more and more with knowledge of God and who He is through the indwelling of His Spirit. When we labor in love it works our faith. I John 4:7 let us love one another for love is of God and everyone that loves is born of God and know God. No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us and his love is perfected in us. When we love right we will know that we dwell in God by his Spirit.
There is no greater love than this that we have been given. God did what He said he would do for us. He loved us, gave his Son in love to ransom us from sin and death. We know we love God when we keep his Commandments. To know God is to obey. To obey is to love him. To love him is to keep his Word and Commandments. Do we love HIM? If God so loved us then we ought to love one another as his love is perfected in us. If we love God whom we have never seen, we can surely love our brothers and sisters in the earth that we see each day.
God requires that the love he commended to u be used for his glory. No greater love and all Godís promises are full. Some know not the knowledge of God but our minds are not blinded; we are rich in love.
