Recently I became a published poet. My name, John Livingston Clark, is listed in the back of a book under the heading, "Poets," along with almost 400 other poets from across the United States and Canada. Yes, it was exciting to see my name listed in a book of people who have published poems included within its covers.
There is something, however, that thrills me much more than that. My name is listed in the Book of Life. What is that, you ask? There are two verses in Revelation, the last book of the New Testament, that mention this. Revelation 13:8 says, "And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the the Lamb who has been slain." This is in reference to the anti-Christ during the Tribulation Period, which is a time of severe judgment upon the earth. The other reference is in the context of people entering heaven. In Revelation 21:27 we read that "nothing unclean and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."
What kind of book is the Book of Life? Is it literal? I do not know the answer to that question, but what I do know is this: My name is included in some way on God's "list" of people who have put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is going to welcome me into his eternal Kingdom. Others who are not part of God's "spiritual registry" are going to hear Him say, "Depart from me. I never knew you." How will God receive you? Having my name in a book of poetry is nothing more than a human accomplishment. To have it included in the Book of Life is of eternal consequence, and it will be listed under the heading, "Saved For All Eternity."
You can make sure that your name is listed in the Book of Life today. Click on the link below to find out how.

Standing at the entryway you hear "why should I let you in?" The only correct response? "I'm in the Book Lord". The angel checks, yup, there on page 97658, row 19, Larkin, Russ, by faith in Jesus alone, 3.17.1974! You never want to hear "He's not in the Book Lord"..... trust me...
