THERE IS HOPE FOR YOU!
For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. Job 14:7-9;
In life, there are instances where our conditions get to such a critical level, and having done all that we think is required to improve the situations but got no positive results, then appears in us that human tendency to want to give up and throw in the towel. It is this critical stage that many people unfortunately fail to survive, and therefore slip into the pit of hopelessness, having their fate sealed in despair. It is a terrible thing for a man to lose hope. For a man who has no hope of a better tomorrow, the situation can be best described as ‘sunset’. Of course when the sun of any man begins to set, that man has no destiny to fulfill anymore, he’s living on borrowed time, his life chapter is bound to gradually close through hopelessness! But this obviously is far from God’s desire for any of His children, and that is why we are encouraged by the scriptures to keep hope alive, no matter how terrible the situations we find ourselves, may seem to be.
Hope is like pregnancy which is expected to lead to delivery of certain expectations or desires to the man who has it; but truth is, it’s only the hope that has its root in the Almighty God, that will not fail to deliver the expectations. You may have hope, but if that hope is outside of God, your expectations will surely be cut short. Sometimes, God cannot help watching His children in their helpless state, for as long as they place their hopes in things and people other than Him, they are bound to face disappointments in large scale! For those who put their trust in God, a seemingly hopeless situation is usually turned around in a sudden manner to put permanent end to many years of sorrows, weeping and waiting. It’s sad that many people are in the habit of treating God like a spare tyre, in the sense that they don’t remember Him until they have been let down by those things and people in whom they have placed their hopes. Anyway, God is a merciful God; His hearts are large enough to accommodate anyone who turns to and places his or her hope in Him. Psalm 146:5 says ‘Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God’.
To receive what you desire from God, your hope in Him has to be sufficiently elastic, because you may be required to continue to pull for an appointed time before your expectation comes. Job 14:14 says ‘If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come’. Unfortunately, many people give up on the Lord too soon, they are tired of waiting for Him. There’s no way you can separate hope from waiting on God. The waiting must necessarily come with strong faith and confidence that ‘He who has promised is also able to perform it’. The scripture in Romans 4:18-21 has this to say about Abraham: ‘Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform’. The bodies of Abraham and Sarah according to this scripture, were regarded as a completely dead tree that lacked the ability to bud, but with God the Author of life, their ‘dead bodies’ did sprout and bud, so also is everyone who puts his or her trust in God, no matter how ‘dead’ you consider the situation to be, there’s hope for you!
Hope rises with positive confessions. One way to inject yourself with fresh hope from time to time is to learn to hold on to positive confessions of faith. Your word is a seed, and there’s great power in what you confess with your mouth. Many people are suffering defeat and hopelessness because they discount their lives by negative confessions. If you have hope in God, you must add positive confessions of faith to it for your expectations to be delivered. Mark 11:23 says ‘For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith’. You will have whatever you say!
Finally, one secret of living an exciting life is to live one day at a time. Always see each day as a blessing from God and face it with joy and excitement. For each and every day you’re opportuned to see, you must keep hope alive. If yesterday was bitter, you must have hope that today will be sweet, and if today fails to bring you sweetness, you must face tomorrow with excitement that what you desire will come through. Never agree with the enemies that it has finished with you. Satan’s target is to cause your sun to set in the midday by making you see nothing but hopelessness in your situations, but you must never allow your sun to set, there’s sunshine for those whose hope is in God. Never, ever give up, there’s hope for you!
Shalom!
