Some of the youth today is beginning to fall apart. Their spirit is dying-and with it goes the future of this world. Sometimes it is because they are broken-hearted, they didnít get the things they want, and someone left them alone. Yes, we cannot live alone but these material things are not the solution to be happy. Instead, we should grow spiritually so that we can have the happiness we ever wanted. But while weíre seeking the Kingdom of God, it is like we are lonely because weíre alone so God gave us a company(Genesis 2:18). We are community for fellowship and we canít do the will of God without the input of our brothers and sisters. Sometimes we tell ourselves that we can do that without the help of others but weíre wrong because only God gives us the capability to do what we can do.
Christianity is not only about believing in Jesus Christ but also fellowship. There are many kinds of fellowship and one of them is cell grouping. A Cell group is a small group of people who are studying the Word of God together. If you donít belong in a cell group, you miss many things.
Other Christians especially the youth think that fellowship is not so important unlike the Sunday service. There are many announcements they could hear every time someone talks in front of them to remind the activities in the church but they only ignore it. Some youth there are already in the cell group but still, their small group is not successful because they donít have the commitment, availability and they have many excuses so that they canít attend the of fellowship.
Cell group is really important. It helps us develop our spiritual muscle. It is like our physical muscle. We go to a gym to exercise it so that it becomes stronger. In spiritual life, we will never grow if we only attend worship service. To become stronger spiritually, we must study the Word of God. But, you canít enjoy spiritual life if youíre alone. So we must exhort one another daily, while it is called ďtoday,Ē lest of you be hardened through deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13). If we donít have the protection against the enemy, we will easily fall down. If you are alone, you are weak. So we need more than a Bible, we also need others because we can grow faster and stronger by learning from each other. In addition, we must not isolate ourselves from others because we we will not grow in maturity.
In a cell group, it helps keep us from falling or stumble. We know that all of us are not immune temptation. The temptation is always there to attract us. But, if we are with our fellow Christians we can avoid those things because there are people that keep reminding us not to do the bad thing. Another, it helps us to discover our hidden talents because there is a push from other believer. An example of this is a girl from our church. She didn't know where ministry she will belong. She tried to have training in music ministry but it was not successful; until a young adult approached her to join their cell group. She was so shy because that time itís like she felt she was ďno oneĒ in the church but she broke the intimidation. She accepted the invitation and joined their cell group. As days passed by, her shyness vanished little by little and she also discovered the talent given by God. It was revealed when someone told her to attend the training for the dance ministry and she found out that she is excelling and growing in this ministry. And also, as we continued steadfastly in the apostlesí doctrine and in the fellowship in the breaking of bread and in prayers (Acts 2:42), our character builds up.
In a cell group, we will experience authenticity. We can experience the honesty from the other believers. It will help us to be spiritually and emotionally healthy. It will also help us mutually that we can give and receive by means of sharing responsibilities. Itís like youíre getting tired in your spiritual life but you see others continually walking, you will not stop and you will continue walking with the Lord. We can feel the sympathy and mercy from others especially when we are in the midst of the storms. Christianity is not just commitment in Christ but also to others. Cell group is a place of grace. So, are you going to be plugged-in, or not?
