If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Jesus made this emphatic statement to us who profess to be christians. Why He made the statement we need to meditate and know how deep it is.
Many call themselves christians and it is with their lips only, their hearts are far away from him
Jesus said ...
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. Jn 15:16

Jesus is both a person and a place, the very reason He made the statement for us to abide.
He is saying stay with him or dwell with him and continue in the command or instruction he has given us.
Be ready to stand and endure the opposition that will arise against you unwavering.
For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. 2 Jn 1:2
Put on the whole armour of God. They are not carnal but mighty through God and all this is in the word ...Jesus.

He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. Prov 4:4
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts. Jer 15:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Col 3:16
The condition ...
Let therefore the word dwell in you richly and then when you ask what you will it will be made for you even if it does not exist yet or supplied to you according to his riches in glory in Christ.
Abide in Jesus ...both in person and in his place where we are raised up and made to sit together with him in heavenly places.
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 Jn 3:22
