***STAY TRUE TO YOUR YOURSELF***
"Thus says the LORD: 'Do not deceive yourselves, saying, "The Chaldeans will surely depart from us," for they will not depart. (Jeremiah 37:9)

Greatness is not a Product of external factors but Internal Factors. The internal factors regulates the external variables. One of the greatest deception with negative consequence is Self Deception. Severally in Scriptures, the Holy Spirit highlighted certain things that we do that actually is self deception.
In this series we would be examining these things critically and seeking for God's help so as to stay true to ourselves.
We start with Jeremiah 37:9. In this scripture Jeremiah receives a prophecy from God and proclaims boldly saying DO NOT DECEIVE YOURSELVES.
The Chaldeans were the babylonians (a godless nation, they didn't serve the God of Israel. God madeIsrael understand that they wouldn't depart from troubling Israel. Why is this? Many times we usually wish some issues and matters in our life away, without deliberately dealing with the matters themselves, here the chaldeans were a threat to the existence of Israel, and they were beginning to console thermselves in false prophecy. There are two things from this passage of scripture
1. There is a consequence for disobedience. King Zedekiah refused to heed the warnings of Jeremiah and that act landed the nation in trouble.
2.The failure of the Israeli army to finish off the Chaldeans when they had the chance to.
We must realise that disobedience to God's instructions to our lives is detrimental. The aftermath falls upon us eventually. Have you been disobedient to God's instruction? WATCH IT, you're not deceiving anyone (not even your pastor or your friends but yourself. If for instance you choose to disobey traffic laws, you mightA end up having an accident. Why not Obey? Also has God given you an opportunity to finish off an enemy (perhaps an habit, a wrong relationship) and you didn't utilise such an opportunity? KNOW THIS:the serpent that you do not kill today would live to fight another day.
I urge you to stay TRUE to YOURSELF.
