13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
My Brothers and Sisters, the above scripture text reflects the mindset of many of us regarding how we approach life and the plans in which we arbitrarily make without considering the Lord's will for our lives. To fail to plan is to plan to fail, therefore; there is nothing wrong with having a vision or a plan for one's life because the scriptures declares without a vision the people perish however; when you engaging in the planning or writing the vision for your life you must understand and consider the brevity of life, the author of life and God's plan for your life.
The Psalmist says it this way,"So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom." (Psalm 90:12). It is wise to consult God regarding the future and His plans for our lives. The scripture declares that God is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, so who is better to consult than God concerning our lives?
Therefore, the Psalmist summarized the importance of understanding and consulting God in regards to the brevity of life by declaring, “Lord, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. Our lives are but a vapor so our time here on earth is short....and very limited therefore; if you are going to make a different in this life, do it now and remember only what you do for Christ will last!
