A path to self destruction is self-deceit. When someone chooses to willfully lie to himself/herself, great help should be arranged. Sometimes, we want something so bad that we plug our ears to become deaf to the Holy Spirit's prompting and nudges, 'this is not yours', 'you can't have it.' We keep circling and circling and become like the heathen, praying with vain repetitions. We keep asking God to give us what isn't His will for us to have. And we think he'll budge?
When God says we can't have something, He is not being a gang leader or the head of some mob, you know, some control freak who derives pleasure in choosing what his subordinates should or should not do and can or cannot have. He is being a Father who in His omniscience knows what's best for His children and directs them through to the place where they can have it and the way oftentimes, branches off from the path that leads to something we want but do not need.
When God says we can't have something, we must trust His judgement. If we needed it, He would have given it. It doesn't give Him joy, withholding what His children needs. No. It is His desire, His will that we have access to whatever we need when we need it. So, if He's withholding anything from us, it's for the best. If He's saying no, it's because yes is not the answer. Our God is magnanimous. Be it far from Him that His children should live in wretchedness.
What is it you want? How much does it measure up against what God wants for you? Don't answer that. We need the eyes of faith to see the end status of what God wants for us. We need total dependability on God and His choices for us. The devil may trick you to believe otherwise but the real deceit is when you become your own trickster. When you say to God, "oh I see this is what You want for me but You've got to let me go about it myself", you limit Him and end up thwarting His plan for you. It no longer comes out as it should've been had you let God have the lead to the very end.
God is still saying to us, "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." - Psalm 46:10, KJV. In Judges 7, we read how God shed Gideon's army from thirty-two thousand men to a meagre three hundred. With God, it is not always how large the resources are at the beginning but His ability to transform and increase it overtime.
Make a decision. Say to yourself, 'I choose that from now henceforth, whatever the Lord chooses for me shall be my final answer. It may not seem big but I choose to remember Jesus with the five loaves of bread and two fish at the beginning and His twelve baskets of leftovers at the end. I also choose to remember the words of Job, "though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase." - Job 8:7, KJV. It may not seem like the best, but I choose to accept God's will for me as my new best.'
