“And the secret [mystery] is simply this: Christ in you! Yes, Christ in you bringing with Him the hope of all the glorious things to come” (Colossians 1:27 Phillips)
Even though I gave my heart to Christ as a young child, I didn’t completely understand what it all meant. Growing up, I was unsure about where or if I belonged. Later, my teenage years brought excruciating pain especially when dad (who I adored) died of a heart attack while operating a bulldozer. It felt like an avalanche---covered and smothered; I longed to be wanted and loved. Oh, and, of course I was vividly angry with God.
Like a ship with no water and nowhere to sail, that is; until a last ditch effort of seeking my heavenly Father. Which opens an important topic that the Apostle Paul wants believers to understand. If we are to have any idea how to live a ‘good and productive’ life as Christ followers, it’s imperative we understand our position. Namely, we are ‘in Christ’ and He is ‘in us’. In brief, if we don’t get this we’ll aimlessly totter through life without hope or purpose.
Note that phrase---in Christ. That’s where we belong. That's where we are loved unconditionally. In Him. He wants us. We are cherished and protected from the powers of darkness because Satan is a defeated foe. When Jesus died on the cross, He rescued us from trying to be something we’re not, and to be someone we are. Even though we live in a depraved world, we are planted in the Beloved never to be separated from Him or snatched from His almighty hand (John 10:28).
Precious Father, open the eyes of our hearts and help us see who we are in You---precious darlings, apple of Your eye and Your glorious inheritance.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
