There are many false converts today feeling safe and secure in their self-righteousness because they are trusting in something they have done rather than in what Christ has done.
There is a teaching today that permeates most churches that goes something like this:
Jesus loves you and died for you and if you believe that you are a sinner and agree with God that you deserve hell you can be saved but only if you agree that Jesus is the one who died for you.
Salvation isn't our “decision” which causes regeneration, that is to say it is NOT the cause of one being “born again.” Salvation isn't synergistic, that is, it is not a God has done all He can and now it is up to you to believe and do your part operation but this is what decisional regeneration teaches.
Regeneration is monergistic meaning it is a work of God according to His sovereign good pleasure. By His own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures." James 1:18
Notice the verse in James says "By His (God's own will) He begat us. The cause is God's will not ours and how did God do this wonderful work of regeneration? With the word of truth. God's word is like a hammer that breaks our stony heart, "Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?" (Jer. 23:29) God must showing us our sin and convince us by His Spirit using the law of God. Only then will the Balm of Gilead be applied for salvation and healing.
Decisional regeneration says when an unbeliever makes a decision to accept Christ as his or her Savior, God then responds by regenerating him or her (bear in mind, theologically, regeneration is not justification, which is through, not as the cause of, faith).
The idea that man does his part (the act of faith) and “after,” God does His part indicates man cooperating with God in salvation (i.e., synergism). It places a work (the decision or act of faith) as a contributing work in addition to the work of Christ. Hence, it becomes, by implication at least, a grace plus works system. This concept is similar to Rome’s doctrine of “baptismal regeneration,” where the act of water baptism is said to be the necessary cause of regeneration.
Now we must understand this clear Biblical truth that Almighty God is sovereign. He is sovereign in everything He does including the creation, how He works in the human will, reprobation and salvation.
The following Bible teach clearly the fact of God being sovereign: (Ex 33:19; Deut. 9:6; Ezek 36: 22-27; Rom. 9:11; Phil. 2:12-13)but do men like Steve Anderson teach God's sovereignty? No. I've seen at least one video where he denies the sovereignty of God and I've seen at least one video where this man tries to convince a person through door-to door evangelism that if a person says a prayer repeated in a certain manner then that person can be assured of salvation.
What does it mean to believe on Christ? You can believe all the Bible verses about man being a sinner and deserving hell and that Jesus is the only way to eternal life and still go to hell.
The question is my friend, are you obeying Jesus Christ today? Have you forsaken your sins. The Bible says "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." Proverbs 28:13 Forget about some time in the past when you professed your belief in Jesus for then you may mistake having trusted in a prayer or decision rather than Christ's righteousness and complete and effectual in saving you from your sin. Decisional regeneration is a false gospel and sure road to hell taught in many churches today. Your supposed day of conversion can not be trusted either. Many are deceived by their wicked hearts and tricked with a false faith of devils for the devils believe there is one God and they tremble and yet they will be damned. If you have not received a love of the truth then you are not born again.
It is by God's mercy that you have been kept out of hell thus long. "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." Lam 3:22 But someday sinner you must die (Heb 9:27) therefore, while you have breath call upon the name of the Lord. Romans 10:13
"Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." Isa. 55:6-7
