Romans 12:1-2 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Every believer are ought to set out on a machine to renew their minds with the Word of God. This is a spiritual work to take the Word of God and put it in our heart and mind, so that our mind also thinks in line with our heart. A man is a spirit, soul, and body. If anyone is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and all things have become new Ė this is the statement of the spirit of man. Therefore, the spirit of man is alive with the desire for the things of God. You can feed the spirit man and the spirit man will grow. He is a new creation now. You need to feed your spirit with the Word of God. Just like food goes into the physical body and gives you physical strength, Godís Word can go into your spirit and give you spiritual strength.
The mind is not completely renewed yet. You cannot say about the mind that it is a new creation and this is the reason many Christians even after getting saved, being spirit filled, and baptized still they are not acting like very good Christians, not only in terms of their sinful things, they are also oriented towards failure, weakness, inadequacy, feelings of inferiority, fear and doubt are all part of their lives. They are born again and they are children of God, but yet they are in that condition.
Spiritual person is a person who should have a spiritual mind and should have the thoughts and imaginations ordered in the way that God has it. You should come away from thinking the way you used to think and start now thinking in a new way and in a new direction. Only when this happens, you will see changes that are evident in your spirit, soul, and body, in your family, in your finances, in the work of your hands until then all that you are is a born again believer. Your life outwardly changes only when your mind aligns itself with the spirit and its condition of being a new creation. So, we need to give attention to the mind because as a man thinks so is he. What is the quality of your life going to be, how is your family going to be, how is your business going to be, how are you going to be personally Ė you are going to be the way that you think. Your thinking will determine the quality of life.
II Corinthians 10:3-5 Ė For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
We need to understand the mind. The mind has intellect, emotions, and will. Intellect is the thinking process or the capacity to think. The emotion is the capacity to feel. The will is the capacity to decide and determine. All of these three things work together in imagination, which take you to a particular direction and lead you to form a picture in your mind and that picture is called as imagination.
Imagination is a God-given ability. Mind is given by God, to be able to think and to will and to feel. The complex process that we call as imagination is a wonderful thing. When you renew your mind with new thoughts, your imagination goes in a new direction. Man is made to imagine and then bring it to pass whatever he is imagining. Whatever you imagine, that is what you are going to have. This is the way God has made you. Everything you see in this world by the way of manís making is something that began with a thought and imagination, and then it became reality.
In the verse above mentioned, there are three important words Ė thoughts, imaginations, and strongholds. A thought over a period of time in your mind leads into imagination and that imagination being there for a while then becomes a stronghold; and this stronghold captivates you and fills you. This is how thoughts, imaginations, and strongholds work. This can work positively and negatively. This is the reason we are warned here to make sure it does not work negatively because it is such a powerful thing, it can destroy you. We need to be sure what we put in our mind as far as thoughts are concerned. Your thoughts are very important because it leads to an imagination, and if that imagination stays in your mind, then it will become a stronghold and this stronghold will captivate you and make you a slave to that imagination. So your thoughts are not ordinary matter, you have got to safeguard your thoughts. This is the reason the Bible says to cast down every imaginations. The Bible does not say you are a victim of your imagination. You will become a victim only if you allow yourself to become a victim, but you cannot say you cannot do anything if the imagination just comes in your mind and takes over you because you are bigger than your imagination. You have to control your imagination. You have to manage your imagination.
Imagination is not something that happens in your subconscious mind. Imagination happens when you know that it is happening in your mind, but when we talk about subconscious we are unsure what is happening there and that is why we call it as subconscious. This imagination happens when you are conscious. Consciously, you are receiving the thoughts and imagining the thoughts. So you have a choice now to entertain those thoughts or not. If you allow a wrong thought, then it develops into a wrong kind of imagination and it will lead to a wrong stronghold. This is the reason we have to discipline our thoughts. Every word is a thought, every picture is a thought, and every book you read is a thought. You are literally eating poison when you take in thoughts that are not edifying. We need to be careful of what we hear, what we see, and what we read. If we want to look ourselves as how God intended us to be, then we need to read the Bible and listen to the edifying messages which uplift our spirit. If we discipline our life in what we think and what we do in line with the Word of God, then our life will go in the right direction.
Great empires, fortunes, beautiful buildings, bridges, and all of these wonderful things came as a result of a man imagining something. So imagination is a very important thing. This is the reason the Bible says every imagination of the heart will be revealed one day. Imagination works both positively and negatively. God loves holy imaginations. God loves imagination that is in His order and in His way. God wants to give you imagination. God wants to provoke the imagination in you, but you must know the source of the imagination. The source of imagination is the Word of God, if you spend time in studying the Word of God, then the imagination will be in line with the Word of God. You are feeding your thoughts and your mind with Godís Word and so the imagination will also come from Godís Word.
II Timothy 3:16 Ė All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
We need to understand why the Word of God is given. The Word is given among many other reasons, one of the reason is you may live in conformity to Godís will in thought, purpose, and action. God wants you to be in the will of God through your thought, purpose, and action and this is one of the reason the Word of God is given to you. If your thought, purpose, and action going to be aligned with the will of God and by the Word of God, then any spiritual believer whatever he wants to achieve in every area of his life, his achievements will be based on how much he goes into the Word. There are many promises in the Bible and it is given to you to provoke and inspire an imagination.
All success begins with thoughts and imagination. God wants to fill your mind with thoughts and imaginations. God wants your mind to be captivated and wants it to become a stronghold of His plan and purpose for your life so that you are immersed in His thoughts and purpose. God wants to take you to success by using your mind. If you are not yielding your mind, you will never walk in the will of God. Mind is the vehicle for success. God wants to get into your mind, wants to put thoughts, and wants to put imagination in you.
All things are possible and God has given us a mind to conceive like a womb and bring forth. If we conceive in our heart and bear in the womb of our mind, we will give birth to it; whatever it is we can bring forth. Imagination is a way for you to bring forth. You can bring forth happy family. You can bring forth a successful business. You can bring forth a successful church. You can buy anything you want and you can do anything you want, nothing will be impossible and that is the power of imagination. The Bible is not an ordinary book; it is something that feeds your imagination. The power of imagination will turn your life around; it will turn communities and families around. When your imagination is yielded to Godís plans and purposes, and when the word becomes the source of imagination, then you are ready to create a new world, new family, new situation, new kind of business, Amen.
