I really love my job because my company is always involved in some kind of sponsorships, fundraisers and volunteer work and that makes me appreciate the company I work for. I love volunteering for all sorts of things and I even got to go to an elementary school for an hour to talk to a bunch of first graders to teach them about saving. I remember when I was a kid, having guest speakers come to our school was always exciting because I never knew what kind of gifts the visitors were going to give us. And I even remember, whenever we had a guest we all really enjoyed, we would ask them to come back and visit us again, and having that happen to me, when I became that guest speaker, gave me a really great feeling. The kids I had was so good and though the classroom was overcrowded with children due to the lack of teachers in the school, I could swear you could hear a pin drop as I read a story to them because of how quiet and attentive they were. They were really good kids.
I have made it my mission to do as much volunteer work as I can this year, since it truly does help to add more years to my life, by practicing the things I have learned from God through faith. When you put your heart into doing good things for others, you will eventually come to discover that every opportunity to serve God truly is a privilege and not a religious obligation. Though God does not require any man to go above and beyond for anyone else, whenever a person does, it shows their knowledge of God is abundant and their measure of life is without limit because of how much they are able to give light to others, without ever depriving themselves.
I will admit that not every service has been a delightful or a pleasant experience. Most of my previous services of extending my hand to help others, have often left me with a bruised heart because of the abuse of broken spirits. But when you love someone, sometimes, you automatically become willing to get burned by those you love in order to snatch them from death; because those who have become buried under layers of pain, have a tendency kick and scream when you are trying to set them free, just like a wild animal trapped in a barbwire might gnarl and injure you while you cut the painful wires away to help them. Those type of services may not be an enjoyable one at all, especially when it might leave a permanent mark on you, like a bad scar you wished would disappear. But even throughout those moments, I still say, with a very deep sense of appreciation, that it has truly been an honor to serve God. And there is no memory of any service to God throughout my life, that I haven't appreciated the experience of putting my faith into practice.
When I crossed paths with a few angels in the world, they came in the form of men but not in the appearance of a successful man or a hero. They came in the form of the sick, the needy and the poor because in their eyes, they were searching into the hearts of men, to see how much life they had within themselves. For, "Those who have will be given more; but those who do not have, even what they have left will be taken from them." When angels come, you won't know if they will end up blessing you or cursing you, because really, it depends on the fruit you bear. Though the purpose for their presence is not to judge you by your deeds, it's more so to see how genuine you are when you bear those deeds; and if they are pleased with your faith, they will add to your learning, but if you fall short of righteousness, they will destroy you.
Most people who are approached by the sick, the poor and the needy, extend their hand out of obligation, reward or a condition. People who practice doing good things out of obligation will never be cursed, but they will be blessed in hopes that their deeds will become more than just an obligation, so that they can have strong roots. And people who produce good deeds with the expectation for a reward from God will also be blessed, but not necessarily with the type of reward they desired, but more so, the type that God sees is more beneficial to them, for the sake of their own heart. And people who do good things for a reward from men, does not receive blessings, they receive their just reward when they receive payment or praises from mankind. But those who do good to others under a condition that requires an exchange of sinful acts of whatever it may be, falls under a curse; and it is this type of curse that God says is better for a man not to have been born than to live under this curse.
When angels judge, they do not judge like mankind, since people often judge a tree by its fruit. God judges the heart because it is the heart that produces deeds; and because He understands that sometimes, the thorns people bear, comes from a crippled heart that was broken once or too many times, He knows they don't need to be punished because they have suffered enough. He will have compassion on them and will try to help restore them until their death, but most crippled souls will refuse to be helped and they will never heal as long as they continue to push God away. God will never show mercy to people who bear thorns out of the pure darkness called ignorance because simply, when there is plenty of Light in the world, what excuse do they have for refusing to see it?
