The sun arose one day as the sower began to pray,
“I hope to plant the seeds of God’s Word in the hearts of many.
For God’s love has no end and for each of us there is aplenty.”
So the sower sowed the seeds with the hope that for God many hearts would be won,
and once he was finished he happily proclaimed, “I am done!”
The first seed we see landed out of the way and off to the side.
Let’s say it’s an unbeliever or a person with extra pride.
For they heard the Word and understood it not,
and because of this by the evil one they were caught.
One seed grew into a sprout, let’s call him number 2.
For when he received the Word he was as excited as me and you.
The sun burned hot filling number 2 with unease,
and like a bully it began to tease,
“If you believe in THAT Word, then for sure you’re not cool”
For the little plant feared being made into a fool.
He couldn’t take the pressure, he couldn’t take the heat.
So, it was by temptation that this little seed was beat.
Across the field buried amongst the lying weeds,
is where we find the seed worried about all of its needs.
At one time he was healthy, but soon became sick.
For the weeds had convinced him, “More things and more money, that will do the trick.”
The poor little seed was silly to put his trust in money,
for God would have transplanted him to a land of milk and honey.
The sower returned from sitting with his father, the owner of the seeds and the farm.
Missing the 3 seeds, he said sadly, “It was not my wish to see you come to any harm.”
He looked over to find the last seed bearing fruit and standing tall.
For this seed heard, understood, and followed it all.
For the other 3 never believed the sower’s whisper, “but I have plans for you.”
For they didn’t understand just how God’s love is faithful and true.
“Well done my good and faithful servant, and for this we will never part.”
For this is the reward for the seed’s honest, good, and patient heart.
