John 14:13 – 14 NIV “And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in My name, and I will do it.”
“If a tree falls in the woods does it make a sound?” We have all pondered this thought provoking question before. The basic quandary is does the sound of a falling tree actually make sound if there is nobody in the middle of the woods to hear it? I woke to a Facebook post from my daughter that had me posing another of this type of question; “Is a prayer answered if it is not acknowledged?” In the post my daughter commented on how wonderful her husband is and how lucky she was to have him return to her after almost a year of separation. I have no doubt that my daughter prayed for this day and if she didn't than I certainly did as I have been praying for my own similar reunion. I noticed that she accidentally (I am sure) left God out of the conversation which possessed me to ask the question, “Is a prayer answered if it is not acknowledged? When Jesus says that He “will do whatever you ask in my name” it is inevitable that it will be done, however the quandary remains; if we do not recognize, acknowledge, praise, and act upon the inevitably answered prayer, is it really answered? Questions like these are meant to stimulate the thinking process and for that reason I am going to leave the answer up to you and God; enjoy thinking!
