" The Psalm of the Cross"

"This is one of the most detailed prophecy given about the Messiah's crucifixion. And Jesus lived out every moment of this on the cross.The psalm gives the prophecy and the gospels give the fulfillment; along with, and Roman history and archeological findings provide the facts proving the prophecies fulfillment".

Psalms 22:1, 6-8, 14-18, 22-31 NKJV

(v1) My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?

This is what Jesus said on the cross:
Matthew 27:46 KJV

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

* Historical fact: According to the Mishnah which is the oral law of the Jewish people, reports " The slaughter of the Passover lamb was performed during the ninth hour. At the exact moment in the ninth hour is when Jesus cried out about being forsaken.

(v6) But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people. (v7)All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,(v8) “He trusted in the Lord , let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!

Matthew 27: 39-43 NKJV

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”

(v14) ” I am poured out like water,....(blood flooded freely from all the lacerations Christ received resulting in massive blood loss.)
(v14 cont'd).... And all My bones are out of joint;

* Historical fact: a persons bones were often pulled out from their sockets while hanging from the cross.

(v14 cont'd) My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me. (v15) My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; ( in other words his mouth was dried up)

* Historical fact: A side effect of crucifixion was dehydration. That is why Jesus said:

John 19:28 NKJV

After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”

(v15 cont'd) You have brought Me to the dust of death. (v16) For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet;

* Historical fact: In crucifixion nails were driven through the hands and feet of the condemned men.

(v17) I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.

* Historical fact: The Romans routinely whipped condemned men before crucifying them; true muscles were cut open so badly that there bones were visible. And we know there were many people starting upon Christ on the cross.

(v18) They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.

John 19:23-24 KJV

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

"In the end of the psalm we read the beautiful description about the glory of God that will come from that very day and forevermore".

(v 22-31) I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You. You who fear the Lord , praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel! For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard. My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him. The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the Lord . Let your heart live forever! All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the Lord , And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You. For the kingdom is the Lord ’s, And He rules over the nations. All the prosperous of the earth Shall eat and worship; All those who go down to the dust Shall bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep himself alive. A posterity shall serve Him. It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation, They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, That He has done this.

"There's no denying that Christ is the Messiah that the prophets spoke of. Look at how David was given such a accurate account of this event. God gives divine prophecy not man. There is no way David could have made this up himself and then have it come to pass. Gods word is true, And the majority of biblical prophecy has already accured. Have you trusted that Jesus died to save you? Will you wait until all the prophecies are filled? Because the last one is the second coming of Christ and at that point there will be no hope for your etarnal life. Trust in Jesus Christ he is the only one who loved you enough to pay the penalty and price offering you a free gift of salvation which leads to a joyous eternal life".
