O Lord, do not give us glory,
Please do not give glory to us;
For not knowing the whole story,
And so not deserving as thus.
So give the glory to Your name,
Because of Your mercy and grace;
Your faithfulness we will proclaim,
Since You comfort and You embrace.
Why should so many others say,
Where art thou O god of ours;
When we know the God we obey,
Is in Heaven above the towers.
He does as He would desire,
And goes where He wishes to go;
He is able to acquire,
With knowledge and wisdom to know.
Their gods are of silver and gold,
With human hands that they were made;
And through generations were told,
They protect, need not be afraid.
They may have mouths but cannot speak,
They may have eyes but cannot see;
They do not answer when you seek,
For their ears hear not you or me.
They have noses but cannot smell,
They do have hands but cannot feel;
And they could not catch if you fell,
No motivation without zeal.
They do have feet but cannot walk,
They live not in Heaven above;
No sound can they make nor can talk,
And no heart for storing the love.
