Often in many places we have strict rules imposed to control and govern properly, however where rules drive the people, it attempts to create a mock obedience by many, for if the importance of the imposition is not governed by the heart, the heart waits for an opportunity to find a loophole and then comes out what is really the true character.
How about the idea of a change from within? how about if the governance would come from within? how about if from within would spring up the desire of obedience and submission.
When God gave his laws to His people, this is what He said...
" So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27 (NKJV)
The Lord has commanded us to love Him and to love our neighbours.
No one would love just because it is commanded to do so, or rather you can never force a person to love you, love comes from within and God knows that and thus He said that we should love Him with all our heart, soul, strength and mind.
If we are attempting to follow a strict regimen in life regarding all and trying to accomplish the height of spirituality by strict isolation or penance, we are going the wrong way.
Let the change happen from within first and then without shall automatically follow.
This is also what the Lord said should be the ideal situation of the human body...
" Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? " 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NKJV)
God wants the Holy Spirit to be within us to govern us.
This is what happens when the Holy Spirit governs....
" Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you." 1 Samuel 10:6-7 (NKJV)
This is what Samuel said to Saul when God was about to fill him with the Holy Spirit.
Notice, the Spirit will make us a different person and then if we do as the occasion demands, we will never be wrong, for the Spirit of the Lord is in us and God governs us.
Thus let's not wait for the rod of the law to make us walk straight, rather let the loving law of the Lord God fill our heart and move us with the desire of perfect obedience.
God is not one to be scared of and keep away from, rather He is more than worthy of being loved, befriended and revered for Who He is.
Let's love Him with all of our heart, with all our soul, with all our strength, and with all our mind, and then shall we also love others the same.
