There are many heroes who we admire and look up to in America. We admire Michael Jordan for his athletic abilities. He has become a legend in Basketball and throughout the sports world. We are in awe at the sheer power of Barry Bond and his ability to hit a baseball. More than any of these heroes or icons, I admire the American soldier who stands tall against our enemies near and far. Because you stand tall, you are my true American hero. You are miles above any legend or icon.
This letter is to say thank you for standing tall for our freedoms. Thank you for sacrificing time away from your family to protect my freedoms as an American. Because you are willing to serve our country and save our way of life, you are lifted up to hero status in every American’s eyes. You have also been lifted higher in the eyes of God.
Soldier; keep these three things in mind as you go about your duties today:
* Attitude Matters – Though you are far away and surely miss your loved ones remember a positive attitude will keep you tuned in to positive results. Don’t allow a tainted attitude drag you down and make you less effective than you need to be to defeat our enemy. Know you will prevail.
* Have Faith – America is the greatest nation on the face of this earth. We are great because we as a people have had the faith we need to over come any situation. Rose Parks stood against discrimination on that bus in Alabama. She had faith in her fortitude to say enough is enough. Lance Armstrong had enough faith to overcome cancer and win the Tour de France six times. As American’s we live and breathe by faith every day. Your faith will win this battle over our enemies of terror.
* Be Courageous – Ernest Hemingway said it best when he said, “Courage is grace under pressure.” Be graceful under pressure and brave in your heart. The enemy you fight does not have the same courage you have. They are coward who kill innocent people. Show them that you are not afraid of their terror and intend to kill anyone who trespasses against America and her values.
Every American holds your safe return in our hearts and hopes. We cry when you cry and laugh when you laugh. As a nation of the brave and of the free we salute your dedication to protecting our freedoms. Thank you for being my American hero and icon. You are in my heart and in my prayers for a safe return.
Thank you,
