GET OUT OF THE PEWS AND INTO THE TRENCHES

More Christians are needed to enlist in the battle for spiritual and moral truth today. I saw on a church readerboard recently: HELP FIGHT TRUTH DECAY. The war requires strong Christians willing to put on spiritual combat armor and fight on the front lines. Psalm 119:157 says, "Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, yet I do not turn aside from your testimonies." Christians must get out of the pews and into the trenches.
We must get rid of all of the issues that are causing division and lessening the value of the Gospel. Dump the prosperity and feel-good theology. Forget the teachings that say a person must be baptized, follow some law, worship on Saturday, or speak in tongues to be saved. Do away with materialism and emotionalism without the doctrine. Focus on the cross, salvation by faith through grace, based upon the death and resurrection of Jesus, apart from works. We have work to do people. Satan is gaining ground in destroying truth.
All true, regenerate Christians must get serious about their faith. Down with the "what's-in-it-for-me" Christianity. A true disciple of Jesus will crucify the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24), and say "NO" to Satan. (I Peter 5:8-9) The "lifting things raised against the knowledge of God" must be brought down. (II Cor. 10:3-5) We must set no worthless thing before our eyes. (Psalm 101:3) This means quit watching and exposing one's eyes and minds to television shows, movies, video games, magazines, and any other media or music that are promoting the ideas of the enemy. Men need to dump pornography. No one would take sides with the enemy in a war, but that is exactly what many Christians are doing. We must make the most of our time because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:16)
The full armor of God must be put on. Ephesians 6:10 says to "be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might." Then this passages goes on to list the armor of truth: the Gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit, and prayer. The problem is that many Christians are not even reading the warfare manual called the Bible. Each person must know, also, how and where he or she is most vulnerable to the attacks of Satan.
If you are complacent just going to church and being involved in religious activities you are not a participant in the war on truth. You are playing church and are a bystander watching from the sidelines, if you are aware of what is even going on at all. More pastors need to be involved in the battle for truth and need to be enlisting members of their congregations.
Become aware of what is going on. Watch television programs like the HAL LINDSEY REPORT. Subcribe to newsletters from the AMERICAN CENTER FOR LAW AND JUSTICE, to see how many battles are being fought just to retain our right to religious expression. Read books by the experts to keep informed on the issues of truth. For example, how many Christians are aware of the following?
1. The Four Blood Moons.
2. The 9-11 Harbinger prophecies.
3. Beheading of Christians is already taking place, even in America.
4. Jordan Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice, was physically removed from a national park during the U.S. government shutdown, violating his right of freedom of assembly.
5. The battle to retain the cross at ground zero.
6. A fifth grader in Los Angeles was told that he could not read his Bible during FREE periods and AFTER school.
7. A middle school student in Florida was told not to wear a cross necklace in school.
8. A Ohio church was warned by a city to not present a unique drama presentation with a Gospel message.
9. Attempts have been made to remove the Star of David.
10. Cases have been brought before courts to remove "In God We Trust" from all U.S. currency.
11. The homosexual community has their own Bible called THE NEW QUEEN JAMES.
12. Recently there was a creation-evolution debate between Bill Nye (the science guy) and Ken Ham, of the organization, ANSWERS IN GENESIS, that was all over facebook and google.
13. The merging of Christianity and Islam, called Chrislam.
We are not called to live comfortable lives! Think about all of the Christians down through history who have been persecuted and even killed for their faith. William Tyndale was burned at the stake just for translating the Bible into the English language. Read II Corinthians 4:7-11 and Hebrews 11:32-38 to find out what Christians have gone through in the war for truth. II Timothy 3:12 says that all who live godly lives WILL suffer persecution. This makes one wonder how many Christians are living godly lives.
It is not easy to be a soldier of the truth in today's culture. Ask yourself what you can do to be involved in the battle for truth. Not everyone can be a speaker and writer like I am, but each person can do something. However, you will have to get out of the pews and into the trenches. Confront the deception. Write letters. Take a stand. Refute error. Do something, anything.
You may not be liked; in fact, you may be hated for it! Christianity is not an "easy-believeism." It is not for the weak and wimpy. It is a life of discipline. Join the army of truth now. Don't be content to sit in the pews and do nothing. Don't leave it to the missionaries or say that it is the pastor's job. The truth of the matter is that, even the "good-ol USA," supposedly the greatest Christian country on the face of the earth, has turned into a nation in dire need of missionaries itself. Guess what, brothers and sisters in the Lord, WE are those missionaries.
Matthew 28:19-20 commissions each of us to go into all the world and do something to be involved in the battle for truth. As in any army, when we go, we must be a good soldier who does not entangle himself or herself in the affairs of life. (Hebrews 12:1-3) That applies physically and spiritually. Sure, we all have personal and family affairs to which to attend, but let's simplify our lives so we can give more attention to the battle. Perhaps we need to get rid of some of our interests and material possessions that require a lot of attention and time that could be better used in fighting the war. Maybe we need to surrender some of our earthy aims and pick up some spiritual arms for the battle.
Time is short. We must hold the banner high for truth, no matter the consequences. It is imperative that we help people see the truth of God's grace, forgiveness, and love, as quickly as possible. Millions of people do not know the WHY behind the WHAT, in terms of events happening in the world today. They are going into the greatest tribulation the world has ever known, and will experience the full judgment of God.
Christians overwhelmingly believe that we are living in the final days before the return of Christ, and that God is lifting his hand of blessing off much of the world, including America. Why, then, are so many Christians still sitting in the pews instead of standing in the trenches fighting the war? What can you do or give in the battle for truth? Where is your battlefield? Is it at home, school, work, or in some relationship? Maybe it is even within your local church. It is anywhere you have an opportunity or need to take a stand for the truth. Get into the trenches and join the battle. Many new recruits are needed. Join me in spiritual boot camp. Let's all train to be good soldiers in the battle for truth.
