GOD'S GLORY STORY 3, GOD'S DIVINE APPOINTMENT

( A GOD'S GLORY STORY is a story about seeing a situation resolved in a way that only God could do. This is the third in a series.)

A member of my family needed a job. I wanted to help him find work but he lived in a different town about 60 miles away. How in the world would this happen?

I accepted the fact that I really could not do much about helping him find work, but little did I know that God was at work in the matter, behind the scenes. I attend a men's Bible study at my church. One time when I attended I recognized a man who had never come until that night, but I did not remember who he was. After the Bible study I went up to him and asked him his name, and asked what he did for work. He said he was the regional manager for a custodial company and that his territory included not only my local community, but also the town in which my family member resided. I told him that I needed to talk to him.

I explained the situation to him. He told me that he had an opening coming up in a few weeks that would probably be suitable for my family member. He also informed me that he knew my family member because he had attended the same church before he moved out of town. Things started to look pretty exciting. I thought to myself, "God is truly at work in this situation."

This is what is referred to as a divine appointment. God was already at work behind the scenes to bring all things together. It really had nothing to do with what I did. While this is a case of who you know, as is often true when getting employment, it goes beyond that. I would never have known about this opportunity if this gentleman had not attended the Bible study, and it was the ONLY time this man has come. Furthermore, what if I had decided to NOT go that particular night? What if it had not been on my mind to help my family member find work? What if I had not been outgoing enough to talk to this man? God put it in my heart to help my family member, and set up the divine appointment.

My family member was hired soon after that and now has a steady part-time job. This was nothing short of a miracle of God, and a demonstration of His sovereignty and timing.

There is great blessing in following the Lord's lead! "Trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey". PTL for you and your relative John!
